Brentwood (TN) man arrested, accused of raping, sexually abusing 2 sons
http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060111/COUNTY09/601110410/1006/NEWS

A Brentwood man was arrested yesterday on charges of raping and sexually abusing two of his children over the course of five years.

...

Allegations of rape and abuse were brought forth by one of the victims, police said. On a mid-December day, a Brentwood patrol officer was called to the family's home to help resolve a domestic issue, O'Neil said. One of the boys told the officer that he and his brother had been abused.

...

The suspect is involved in the Christian book-publishing industry, according to police and numerous Web sites.

Ah. Another good Christian.

1. I have a very good friend who lives in Brentwood TN
I'll have to ask her about this story.

She did tell me that in her neighborhood, which is rather expensive, these fundies were buying homes as an organized group and placing multi-families into them so they could attend the schools. Apparently they don't have any zoning laws (or nobody could find one yet) that prohibits multi-family living in single family homes.

She also told me the fundy kids then bad mouth anyone's kids who aren't born again...including her young Catholic kids.

3. I remember they passed an ordinance that says only one non relative
person may live in the same house. Also the W stickers are still everywhere.

6. Was that a recent ordinance?
She said the fundy minister had a sister (in-law?) who was in real estate and it was a coordinated effort by this group to place multiple fundy families, who could no way afford to live in that neighborhood, into those homes/school district.

19. Here's the Info
http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/index.cfm?section_id=9&screen=news&news_id=40661

A controversial Brentwood church is believed to be importing voters to the city and housing them — sometimes eight to a dwelling — in an attempt to influence the Brentwood City Commission election, which begins today with early voting in Franklin.

Remnant Fellowship, founded in 1999 by diet guru Gwen Shamblin on some principles of her Weigh Down Workshop, could essentially take over the city’s five-member board of commissioners by installing three candidates strongly endorsed by some church members.

I don't know that this church is the church the guy in the above article belongs to.

24. Thanks, Crisco. Yep, that's what my friend was telling me 6 months ago.
Apparently one of the wingnuts is related to a real estate agent who was setting up the whole scam. None of these people could afford to live there as a single family, but they wanted the schools/neighborhood/lifestyle so they cooked up this multi-family setup.

Not only have some of their kids been mean to my friend's <gasp> Catholic children, but my friend told me that one of them actually told one of the Jewish wives that she is going to hell unless she finds Jesus. So very Xtian!!!

Didn't realize they were also trying to seize control of the elections too...but I should have guessed that. They live for the marriage of religion and government.

Those are just a few possibilities.

I think I figured out who it is, but I won't name names.

Took me five minutes, and I'm 75% sure. Still, out of respect for the victims, I wouldn't name names even at 100%.

20. Hard to Say
There are many Christian publishing companies in Nashville. Brentwood is officially its own city, but it's really a very wealthy suburb of the Nashville area, and it's where many of the more newly wealthy move to if they can't get into Belle Meade.

22. I Don't Know That It Is
But because it's highly likely that this boy-child rapist (yeah, yeah, innocent until proven ...) belongs to an organization that devotes money to lobbying issues that interest many DUers, I posted it. Specifically in the area of gay rights. One for the hypocrites file.

23. brentwood is a really, really, really weird place.
right-wing, nouveaux riche, conspicuous consumption, mcmansions, gated communities, etc.

apparently, some of the people become so strapped when they buy their homes there, they can't afford to furnish them. so one or two rooms sit empty.

no soul whatsoever. it's where the people with successories posters on their walls and tony robbins tapes in their cars aspire to move some day.

25. Sexual abuse of children is usually committed by a family member,

whether Christian or not. The problem isn't Christianity, it's the 1-2% of men (and smaller percentage of women) who are sexually attracted to children or young teenagers. I would not be surprised if it turns out to be a genetically-caused mental illness. Getting people to admit they have this mental disorder and must seek treatment is a societal problem that needs addressing.
