Alaska governor wants campaign against 'ridicule'

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - Alaska needs a publicity campaign to restore its image after battles over wilderness oil drilling and "Bridges to Nowhere" that have made the state a laughing stock, Gov. Frank Murkowski said on Tuesday.
A Democratic leader in Alaska's House of Representatives expressed skepticism over Murkowski's proposed publicity campaign. "The best antidote for bad press is good policy and good practice," said Minority Leader Ethan Berkowitz of Anchorage, who is running for governor.
