Man knifes seven at Moscow synagogue - reports


MOSCOW, Jan 11 (Reuters) - A man wielding a knife wounded seven people in an attack at a synagogue in central Moscow, Russian agencies reported on Wednesday.

"An unknown man burst into a synagogue on Bolshaya Bronnaya street and started to attack the people gathered there with a knife," Itar-Tass news agency quoted a city police source as saying. Police spokesmen declined to comment on the reports.

"Most people have minor wounds, but a lot of them," the source told Tass, adding that the man was now under arrest.

Interfax news agency quoted its own source as saying anti-Semitism could have been behind the attack.

Moscow police arrested a man identified as Alexander Koftzev, suspected of carrying out the attack. He was reported to be in his 20s from Moscow. Moscow authorities said the incident appeared to be anti-Semitic, but that other motives were also being investigated.

An initial investigation reveals that a skinhead wearing a leather jacket told the guards at the entrance to the synagogue that "I will kill people. I will kill Jews," before bursting into the synagogue.

Don't forget crime. Crime in Russia went from being a minor problem to downright horrific in just a few short years.

But of course, we've long known that the more unequal a society grows, the more violent and crime-ridden it tends to become. Just another fact of life that the free-market maniacs are shy about admitting.
