Two DynCorp International Employees Among 12 Killed in Iraq Black Hawk Crash
Irving, TX – – Two DynCorp International police liaison officers were among those killed when the U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter they were in crashed in Iraq on January 7.

Arsenio Domingo, 40, and Robert Timmann, 49, were returning from leave in the United States to their camps in the Mosul region when the crash occurred Saturday in northern Iraq, killing all 12 aboard.

Domingo, of North Charleston, SC, joined DI as an international police liaison officer in August. He had worked as a Charleston Police Department law enforcement officer since 1991, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He is survived by his wife.

Timmann, of Tallahassee, FL, also became an international police liaison officer in August. Previously, he worked as a law enforcement officer in Florida until 1999, when he became an investigator for a private company. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, and a son.

5. God, I dislike mercenaries.

If ever there was an evil profession, it's that of a mercenary. They are on par with slave-traders and back-ally pimps.

I feel zero pity to what happens to a mercenary. I only wish that our brave troops didn't have to defend their filthy asses.

I'm thinking if these son of a bitches need to get around we shouldn't be ferrying their ass in U.S. military equipment.

13. No sympathy here...
At best, they deserve life in prison without possibility of parole, to profit at the expense of the lives of others is to be a murderer, nothing more, nothing less.

16. Of course survivors of these mercs will now draw ss survivor benefits
Another COST of the illegal war. Dependent survivors draw social security survivor benefits until they are 18 or finished with college, at the same time the rich pay fica on no more than $90k income. More downside to the middle class taxpayer. Even if the war ends tomorrow.

23. True, but what a fucking shitty situation we have created to make these...
citizens have to choose this course of employment.

We start an illegal war and then only pay absurdly high wages to those who would serve as mercenaries.

What's a person to do?

Before you all judge these men from your high horse, I will relate you a quick story.

A couple years back, I was unemployed and desperately seeking a job that would allow me to use my degree and pay off my student loans, whilst being somewhat satisfying at the same time. I had a hard time for three months, towards the end of the three months while venturing further and further from my career path because of impending fear of long term unemployment, I came across an ad on Monster.com. This ad was for people who would be willing to do vague work in Iraq for high wages. I fit the bill, my degree would not be used, but the salary would allow me to pay back my loans in about 2 years of working there, a substantial change from the 7-10 years I had budgeted previously. I honestly thought about it for one night, the money, the ability to move forward with what I really wanted to do, if only I could put in a couple years as a corporate employee in a war zone. I decided it probably wasn't worth it after what I must say was some serious thought over one long summer night.

I think that many others have gone through the same dilemma as I and many have not had the luxury of being a young 20-something, with no wife, no kids and no mortgage. I am lucky, my situation allowed me to ignore the Siren's call. Others do not seem to have this choice and must go to Iraq to pay the bills only to realize they have the Sword of Damocles hanging over their head.

It's not an easy decision to make if your back is to the wall, but it's not a hard one either, that's how these companies sucker in workers who think everything will be alright and are terrified to realize they are fighting/working for their lives.
