Biologist: Warming May Cut Duck Numbers

By DANIEL CONNOLLY, Associated Press Writer Tue Jan 10, 7:09 PM ET

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A professor from the University of Montana had a simple message Tuesday in Arkansas: if you like hunting ducks, support international efforts to prevent global warming.

Wildlife biologist David E. Naugle said that if global temperatures rise, duck breeding grounds in North America will dry up, greatly reducing duck populations.

He said the best way to solve the problem is to work with other countries to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

I have been seeing fewer and fewer ducks in NJ. Tons more geese (who fly in from Canada), but not many ducks. (Also, the rabbits in NJ seem to be disappearing).

1. Soon the planet will be populated only by humans
& the animals they choose to domesticate or to eat. So very sad.

We use to have a fairly large crane population during the spring & summer months. Not a day would go by that I didn't see one in the little lake I passed by or flying overhead. Now, it's a real treat to see them.
