Russia slams Moscow synagogue attack, vows to fight anti-Semitism

Russia's Foreign Ministry condemned a knife attack at a Moscow synagogue Wednesday, in which 11 worshippers were wounded, and said it would continue to fight any manifestation of anti-Semitism.

The ministry issued its statement late Wednesday, after a knife-wielding skinhead burst in, shouted "I will kill Jews!" and began slashing at worshipers.

Three Israelis were among the 11 men stabbed before the assailant was wrestled to the ground by the son of a rabbi.

The attack at the Chabad Bronnaya synagogue came amid an increase in the activity of hate groups in Russia and in the number of racist crimes. Jewish leaders said the attack should serve as a clear message to Russian authorities and the public to fight racism.

However, given the current level of anti-Semitism worldwide, I can honestly say, I don't hold much hope that anything will be done.

If the skinhead attacked the Jews because of Israel...well, that will be excused. The current situation reminds me of the early beginnings of the AIDS pandemic..."it's killing all the right people."
