Tareq Aziz has less than month to live: lawyer
Former Iraqi foreign minister and deputy prime minister Tareq Aziz may have less than a month to live after suffering a cerebral embolism, his lawyer says.

Tareq Aziz is "in agony and I do not expect him to live more than a month" following a cerebral embolism and heart problems, Badie Arif Ezzat told the Al-Hayat Arab newspaper.

A cerebral embolism is caused by a blockage in an artery in the brain and is a common cause of a stroke.

Mr Ezzat did not say when Aziz, 69, the top Christian in Saddam Hussein's regime and a fluent English speaker who was one of its best-known figures in the West, had been struck by the illnesses.

He added the former top official was being held by US forces in a room "reserved for dogs" that measures just two-metres-long and one-metre-wide.

The lawyer had told AFP in December that Aziz was in relatively robust health even though he had lost a lot of weight.

3. The neo-cons will be breathing a sigh of relief
That's one witness to the Reagan-BushI-Hussein shenanigans gone.

4. So he's in US custody and has been charged with nothing.

They invade his country illegally, hold him illegally, no charges, keep him in a room reserved for dogs....

The US government considers Iraqis to be undermenschen.

Edit: Reuters article
Daughter urges Tareq Aziz's release

...No formal charges have been brought against him and he remains in US custody.

5. But, as Daleo points out,
they have effectively silenced him. The evidence he could supply about previous US administrations' dealings with Iraq will die with him. That's what Bush and co will call a result. They have murdered the truth. Again.
