Argentina-Brazil-Venezuela for Gas Pipeline
Rio de Janeiro, Jan 12 (Prensa Latina) Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela are taking a key step toward regional integration by envisioning a gas pipeline linking nine South American nations.
Brazil´s Foreign Minister Celso Amorim confirmed presidents Nestor Kirchner, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Hugo Chavez are meeting January 19 in Brasilia to tackle the building of the 8,000 kilometer gas pipeline connecting Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay plus Venezuela.
The three South American states created December 2005 a commission to study the project´s viability during the Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR) summit in Montevideo.
Amorim made the announcement after meeting Wednesday with his Argentine counterpart Jorge Taiana, in Brasilia on his first trip abroad since his appointment December 12, to ready the forthcoming visit of President Kirchner.
