Bush continues to stump for war support
Backers of President Bush say he has strong assets in seeking support for his Iraq policy: personal and political skills.

After watching Bush work the crowd at a campaign-style forum here Wednesday, local farmer Kevin Jeffries said, "He's really personable one-on-one." "If people will listen to him, he's got some excellent points." Jeffries added. "I would like to see him do more of these types of events."

Others say personality can't overcome the one big liability: the war itself.

A Jan. 6-8 USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll shows some movement in Bush's direction. The number of Americans who think it was worth going to war in Iraq rose from 38% in a mid-November poll to 46% in the latest survey.

1. Georgie junior always struck me as the
kind of guy you would invite over to a barbeque. He's eat all your meat. Drink all your beer. Then stagger back home to call the cops and complain about the noise.

2. OMG, that's so funny!
Seriously, WHY do people say stuff like this about Bush? He's about as personable as a round worm laying on the bathroom rug, that your cat just barfed up.

Bush is a phony; he's a liar. Why would it make any difference what size crowd this tapeworm is in?

Welcome to the DU, by the way, ewoden!! Great post.:smoke:

6. There is a big difference between Bush
stumping for SS, the economy, and other domestic issues. And, stumping for something like Iraq being connected to al-Qaeda, Iraqi forces improving, or that there are terrorists are out there waiting to kill you.

The economy, SS, and domestic issues are something people know about and can tell when Bush is lying or not. However, the average American has no idea how many Iraqi troops there are or if someone is planning on blowing up NY.

That is why it is far far easier for presidents to win on foreign policy issues then domestic policy issues. Clinton won in 1992 because he was able to drag Bush I away from foreign policy issues and made the election about the economy.
