Santorum reaps money from lobbyists (#1 in '06 election cycle)
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06013/637267.stm

Sen. Rick Santorum, who has been tapped by fellow Senate Republican leaders to draft legislation tightening restrictions on lobbyists, has received more money from lobbyists than any other congressional candidate so far in the 2006 election cycle.

Mr. Santorum, R-Pa., received $145,946 from lobbyists in the period from the start of the 2006 election cycle through Oct. 31, 2005, according to an analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics based on the most recent data the Federal Election Commission has published.

Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha, D-Johnstown, was not far behind Mr. Santorum. He took sixth place, with $90,500, on the center's list of the top 20 recipients.

When the center's list is narrowed to House candidates, Mr. Murtha ranked first in both 2004 and 2006. He more than doubled the amount that former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, received from lobbyists in 2004. And Mr. Murtha was in the top five among House candidates in 2002 and 2000.

You don't seriously think that The Powers That Be would give that job to someone who would, um, do it, do you?

5. Santorum had a booth at the statewide Pennsylvania Farm Show
Edited on Fri Jan-13-06 12:52 PM by gauguin57
(which pissed me off -- no other politician had a booth, far as I could tell -- he had one cuz he's running again this year -- the PA Farm Show is supposed to be a livestock/produce fair, a tribute to PA Ag., and a trade show for the ag-related companies in the state; shouldn't be politicized like that!) -- booth was staffed by preppy little brownshirts -- I just shook my head at them and rolled my eyes.

Rude, I know ... but I wanted them to know that not everyone in this RED part of this BLUE state is behind their asshole of a boss!

7. No, the monkey raped him.
I'm loving this. Santorum's a black hole. Conservative lobbyists are wasting their money. The more they feed that guy's campaign, the less they have to give other people.

8. In 94 - Rickie he was the Health care Industry's water carrier
against incumbent Senator Harris Wofford - he was bought and paid for by the for profit health care industry. (Wofford carried the ball for Hillary's Health care package in the Senate, a good old fashion, low key, industrious Progressive).

Nothing but a Sanctimonious Sleaze Ball.
