Voter pressure to force Bush to quit Iraq: Murtha
NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. Rep. John Murtha, an outspoken Democratic critic of the Iraq war, said in remarks to be aired on Sunday that voter pressure in the November congressional election could force President George W. Bush to pull U.S. forces from Iraq.

"I think the vast majority will be out by the end of the year and I'm hopeful it will be sooner than that," Murtha, a decorated Vietnam combat veteran who retired as a colonel after 37 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, told the CBS "60 Minutes" show.
....
"You're going to see a plan for withdrawal," said Murtha, the top Democrat on the House of Representatives subcommittee that oversees defense spending.

"I think the political people who give (Bush) advice will say to him, 'You don't want a Democratic (controlled) Congress. You want to keep a Republican majority, and the only way you're going to keep it is by reducing substantially the troops in Iraq."'

1. Whoopee.
So the Liar In Chief will lie about withdrawing troops just before the election. BFD. Nothing will change.

4. I don't buy it
Bush might lower the troop level some right before the election, but they will go right back up after.

If Bush's numbers were in the 20s the GOP would force him out of Iraq, but otherwise it isn't going to happen.

6. Time will tell

So far, the only ones feeling the ill-effects of voter pressure are progressives, Democrats, soldiers, and progressive legislation. I think we'll be able to tell if the tide turns; there won't be any question whatsoever when it happens.

7. We can count on bushie to not tell the truth
he might reduce the troops as a show for the midterm elections and then build the troop numbers right back up -- Or the bastard might reduce the troops in Iraq and send them to Iran or Syria.

8. OMG....I love that last part.
"You don't want a Democratic controlled Congress". Hell, no George.

Cuz you know what that would mean, don't you?

You'd be fish bait, you stupid clown. Stupid idiot Bush. Sold us down the river, only to become a failed presidency.

9. CBS News: Murtha Details His Exit Strategy
Edited on Sat Jan-14-06 01:33 AM by understandinglife
(CBS) Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., believes the vast majority of U.S. troops in Iraq will be out by the end of the year and maybe even sooner. In his boldest words yet on the subject, the outspoken critic of the war predicts the withdrawal and tells 60 Minutes correspondent Mike Wallace why he thinks the Bush administration will do it

“I think the vast majority will be out by the end of the year and I’m hopeful it will be sooner than that,” Murtha tells Wallace, this Sunday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

“You’re going to see a plan for withdrawal,” says Murtha. He believes Congress will pass it because of mounting pressure from constituents tired of the war that could affect the upcoming midterm elections.

The political situation will force President Bush to accede to Congress, he says. “I think the political people who give advice will say to him, ‘You don’t want a democratic Congress. You want to keep a Republican majority, and the only way you’re going to keep it is by reducing substantially the troops in Iraq,’” Murtha says.

... before he's impeached ;)

Let's make that happen sooner than later ....

15. I don't doubt * might leave Iraq b/c repukes are screaming about cost
of war, not to mention overwhelming facts of intel cherry picking/lies/coverup.

However, * will not keep his repuke majority due to the above, along with Jack-off/repuke corruption, Rove probe, Delay corruption and so on.

I hope, anyway.:kick:

Junior can't comprehend either. Murtha scares the cr@p out of him. Out of the entire Cabal, actually.

Rep. Murtha, :applause: Your words resonate where it counts: with the military and the public.
