First Lady defends the GOP

MONROVIA, Liberia -- First lady Laura Bush yesterday rejected Democratic claims that Republicans are mired in a "culture of corruption" and said she'd be "glad" to campaign for Republican candidates in the fall.

"It isn't true," Mrs. Bush said of the "culture of corruption" charges in an exclusive interview with The Washington Times while here for the inauguration of Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf as president of Liberia.

Mrs. Bush offered her star power to Republican candidates after saying she did not know how the Democrats' accusations will affect the congressional elections in November.

"I'll be glad to campaign for Republicans who ask me to campaign for them or do fundraisers for them," the first lady said at the U.S. ambassador's residence here.

5. Is she off her meds?
Seriously, she needs some psychiatric counseling if she thinks the Republican party is corruption-free.

She doesn't even realize how much good will would be generated if she or her husband even hinted that there were problems that needed to be addressed.

We can do without you, Laura, in our reality-based world.

7. The more she speaks out ...
the more I am reminded of the old saying, "Keep quiet and people wonder whether you're a fool. Open your mouth and you remove all doubt."

If she is now a political speaker and figure, as seems to be the case with her comments on *'s spy program etc., then her credibility, truthfulness, and background are fair game.

Let the games begin.

17. 'It isn't true...' seems to be all GOP women know how to say.
Must be part of their brainwashing regimen...

A GOP'er I got into it with on another site constantly retorted 'It isn't true' when we presented her with case after case of evidence, web links, links to articles, etc., etc.

I sincerely wish they'd teach them how to say something else, I'm tired of 'it isn't true.'

26. Her Argument Is Unassailable! She Lays the Facts Out So Precisely!
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 01:35 PM by Beetwasher
Her logic is impeccable her evidence flawless and can leave only one conclusion! From premise "It isn't true", to evidence "It isn't true" to to argument "It isn't true", it all flows to the one inescapable conclusion: "It isn't true". She truly is a master of debate.

28. Well there goes any hope of an impeachment
Join session of Congress is hushed as the first lady makes her way to the floor. She steps up to the microphone and says, "It isn't true"

The Republican side of the house erupts in "See there you have it. This debate is OVER!!!"

Senator Byrd asks to have the floor, permission is granted he steps up and says, "Yes it is"

Complete quiet from the Republican side of the house. Wolf Blitzer informs viewers that the senior Senator from West Virginia has implemented a little known rule and technique for which the Republicans could not have been ready for and that many people say crosses the line and is just too much. Wolf then returns to his treetop Ewok village to begin shaving for the next day's adventure down in humanland.

Zell Miller threatens Byrd with a duel for questioning the first lady in such a manner. Miller is later found pecking at corn kernels outside the Smithsonian.

20. First Lady defends GOP
It is amazing how closely the republican spin machine resembles the workings of the MLM Amway/Qixtar pyramid scheme.

They both use religion to at least initially gain favor with the target audience. Then, once they have your attention, they blast you with propaganda, stating that only they have the correct information, and you shouldn't listen to anyone else. Seemingly intelligent people are duped into spending boatloads of money for a shot at being wealthy like the folks running the scheme. All the while the filthy cretins at the apex of the pyramid are making boatloads of cash taking advantage of those folks gullible enough to buy into the scheme.

It is the same with the Republican party. Most of these evangelical, poor folk, will vote directly against their own best interests, simply because they want to be like those rich republicans. They think, based upon the republican propaganda, that if they vote republican, then they will reap their rewards when they become rich like their elected republican representatives. It's almost like they vote they way they do so that they can say they are a part of this exclusive club, the rich powerful republicans. They actually think that if they were to work hard enough as a republican, they too can live like the fat cat leaders of the party.

Never realizing, like the poor saps in the MLM Quixtar/Amway, that they will never be rich like those "diamonds" or "crowns" because the folks in charge would never let it happen. It is a scam.

Laura prancing around proclaiming the greatness of their cause, although seemingly idiotic to those of us able to see through her act, is exactly what the base wants to see. They love to receive validation for what they are doing, especially when it is coming from one of their idols.

I'm amazed at the parallels between the two organizations, and a close look at the donations of Qixtar and the founders reveals that they are staunch republican supporters.

I would encourage everyone to do a google of Amway and Quixtar and look at some of the testimonials of these poor folks. It really is an eye opener.

that Hillary was continually attacked for "inserting" herself into the political realm, but Pickles continually gets away with it? Sorry Laura, your equating the Swift Boat Liars' attacks on John Kerry to similar attacks on your chimp of a husband in '04 make you fair game for political attacks yourself.

I'm not saying that first ladies shouldn't ever address policy, but she really needs to just keep picking the napkin holders for parties and decorations for the Lincoln room.

No amount of "soft-speak" from her is going to take the sting away from losing jobs and freedom.

37. Well, that settles it for me!. . .
The rest of you can continue to believe this bilgewater but if Laura Bush says "it isn't true," then how could it be? And she did it all the way from Africa, too, so that proves her concern.

Well, I'm glad we've finally settled that bit of unpleasantness. . . and in such forceful fashion, too. For a moment, I believed the nation was actually going to think. Thank God Laura Bush saved us from that travesty. Now let's all get out there and raise some money for anyone who asks for our help -- no matter how many indictments they may be under or deals they've cut to avoid jail time!
