Consumers cope with heating bills that doubled

WASHINGTON It's been a little warmer than usual lately in some parts of the country. But last month was bitterly cold in places, and some December heating bills are coming in at twice their usual price.

With the milder weather, the federal Energy Information Administration now forecasts the average American will pay about a-thousand dollars to heat with natural gas this season. That's 35 percent more than last year. Heating with fuel oil will cost 23 percent more -- almost 15-hundred dollars.

And people seeking an alternative are finding rising prices as well. Wood pellets for increasingly-popular high-tech stoves have almost tripled in price in the Northeast to five-to-six dollars a bag.

1. I fear for the remaining forests as Peak Oil sinks in.
300 million people cannot heat their houses with wood. There isn't that much wood. We'll end up like Great Britain, just prior to the discovery of coal.

3. This economy is going to hit ROCK HARD on the bottom...it will be worse
cuz Bushco kept shit hidden.

I've got friends in Chicago that are keeping their heat on like 64 and still paying 450 a month to heat their homes.

How can an economy surive when people can't afford to buy shit?

When shit is more expensive for less?

Why are people still saying the economy is better when it sure the fuck isn't.

I'm ANGRY!

9. I am on disability
I have no idea how I am going to pay my heating bill this winter. I'm getting LIEP and the colorado aids project tossed me a couple of hundred to help pay the bill, but it's still not enough. I am screwed.
