Rice Rejects Renewal of Talks With Iran
Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 10:33 AM by leftchick

WASHINGTON - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday brushed aside suggestions about a possible resumption of negotiations with Iran on its nuclear program.

"There's not much to talk about," Rice said during a photo session at the State Department with the European Union's foreign policy chief, Javier Solana.

Rice noted that Iran recently broke a suspension on research into atomic activities.

Solana agreed that "there is not much point" in resuming talks if there is "nothing new on the table."

40. A question re: the iranian oil bourse, and timing...
If the anticipated march opening of the iranian oil bourse would lay a smack-down on the dollar, and obviously in turn- the u.s. economy-

WHY would Iran choose now to start the shit about the nukes..?????

WHY not wait 6-9months/a year or so to do that?

it just doesn't make any sense to me.

anyone else?

44. but why NOW?
why give the Americans an excuse to whip up a frenzy, and get the U.N. to impose trade sanctions, essentially shutting down the oil bourse before it starts.
i realize that iran feels they have the right(and ultimately, they do) to break the U.N. "seals"...but why now? why not wait until the bourse is up and running and the dollar is on the way down?

it all just seems suspicious to me...

13. I never notice shoes on a woman unless they are
(a) sexy, as in the sort worn by Marilyn Monroe, or
(b) silly, as in the sort worn by Condoleezza Rice.

So it has come to this: the Secretary of State is a silly fascist bitch with a shoe fetish.

7. Iran - Iraq Redux

What worked for Iraq appears to be working for Iran.

Publicize a threat that is based on cherry picked intel.

Make public statements frequently.

Ramp up the fear machine with doomsday rhetoric.

Demonize the leadership.

Create urgency.

Close all doors to diplomacy.

Start the killing.

Cash the checks.

14. Love that oriental carpet under their feet....
If I'm not mistaken, I'd say that was an Iranian handmade carpet. Nice, huh?

OH, how I'd LOVE to be a fly on the wall in the White House today. At long last, these clowns are backed into a corner. Let's look at the facts: the Japanese stock market is in limbo. Iraq is a disaster: I just read an article that said that "at this moment, U.S. officials are begging on their bended knees for the Shia's to help them get out of Iraq".

This administration is full of maggots; corrupt every one. The courts are starting to catch up.

Meantime, their desperation is reaching a fever pitch. Bush wants to bomb Iran. And he can't because his Creditor, Big Daddy China, won't let him. MY GOD these are exciting times in Washington.

21. Yeah, looks like a real Iranian carpet to me.
Iran (Persia) is a proud, ancient civilization, Condasleezy! It predates Islam. The reason there is now a theocratic dictatorship, is because we propped up the Shah and his nasty little version of the SS. Instead of allowing the country to evolve, we suppressed intellectualism and free speech. And now you want to bomb them instead of talking. Great.

23. I know . . .
Imagine being a lifelong diplomat, like Jimmy Carter or Madeline Albright. Give everything you've got for years and years to get people to peaceably talk to one another about their differences.

And in five years time . . . it all goes down the crapper, thanks to a handful of incopmpetent, sociopathic shitheads with no concept of history. Or love of self or other people.

It's a good thing I don't drink. I'd be blotto, and it ain't even noon!
