Sen. Levin hasn't decided on Alito; says Bush wiretaps were wrong
By RUBY L. BAILEY

FREE PRESS WASHINGTON STAFF
WASHINGTON - Sen. Carl Levin said Wednesday that he hasn't decided how hell vote on U.S Appeals Court Judge Samuel Alitos nomination to the Supreme Court nomination. Michigans other senator, Debbie Stabenow also has said she hasn't decided yet how she'll vote.

In a wide-ranging press conference, Levin also said President George W. Bush overstepped his authority when he authorized wiretaps in the United States.

Levin talked to reporters on the Senate's first full day of votes since the holiday recess. Levin, the ranking Democrat on the Armed Services and Governmental Affairs committees, addressed some of his legislative priorities.

Manufacturing: Levin said wants to stem the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs in Michigan and throughout the U.S. Hell call for tax incentives for businesses in the U.S. and a halt to currency manipulation by China, Korea and Japan. He thinks the federal government can assist manufacturers with health care costs with money recouped from abusers of tax havens.
"We're going to try to meld them and have one pay for the other," said Levin.

5. Reid asked Democrats to stay silent until after todays caucus meeting...
Not that they all listened, but don't blame Levin for saying he's undecided. He'll come out on the right side.

14. I agree. Levin will not disappoint.
I'm more concerned with Stabenow. She voted for the Bankruptcy Bill.

4. I think it's a very positive sign that he's non-commital. We don't
need to come out and tell the other side we are going to filibuster do we?

10. it's really not that tough of a decision ... just say no ...
Roberts is waiting for his clone ... the culture of corruption and usurped power deserves no more life-time appointments ... you're either with us or against us ... it's bigger than simple party politics .... that ended on 11.7.2000 and 12.12.2000 ... it's the soul of our Nation at risk ... the champagne corks will pop if Alito is confirmed ... mission sadly and fraudulently accomplished.

Democrats who voted to confirm Roberts:

Baucus (D-MT)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Byrd (D-WV)
Carper (D-DE)
Conrad (D-ND)
Dodd (D-CT)
Dorgan (D-ND)
Feingold (D-WI)
Johnson (D-SD)
Kohl (D-WI)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Leahy (D-VT)
Levin (D-MI)
Lieberman (D-CT)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Murray (D-WA)
Nelson (D-FL)
Nelson (D-NE)
Pryor (D-AR)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Salazar (D-CO)
Wyden (D-OR) who thought Roberts would shield the suicide law ... fooled ya, didn't he?
