Howard Dean calls Ohio the center of corruption

COLUMBUS - Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean called Ohio the national center of corruption scandals during a visit to the Statehouse Wednesday to unveil an eight-point congressional ethics petition.

"The truth is that we do have a real problem with corruption in this country and, of course, in this state," said Dean, a former Vermont governor and 2004 presidential candidate.

"The cost of corruption is enormous," he said, citing breaks for major oil and drug companies as two recent examples. "This cycle of corruption has to be broken, and we will break it."

...

Dean drew rousing applause when he said "every vote should count" and that a voter-identification bill pending in the Ohio General Assembly would suppress votes. "We want every Ohioan to be able to vote," he said.

2. Maybe they'll change the state motto
to "Ohio, A State of Indictment"

I don't think Dean's comment will get much coin in Ohio. (sorry, couldn't help it).

6. "With God, All Things Are Possible"
I suppose they could change it to "With Diebold, All Outcomes Are Possible."

8. But that's not true.
With DieBold, only one very specific, very predictable outcome is possible.

11. I like Dean in denunciation mode.
I rather wish he'd dump his moribund peers and start a third party--populist, naturally.

12. I Would Have Fingered Texas As the Source of All Evil
Ohio, however, has an equally long, if not as public, reputation for graft in all places, and it's been a state longer, so let it pass.
