Gay Families Plan to Attend White House Easter-Egg Roll

More than 100 gay families have signed up to attend the White House’s annual Easter egg roll in April.

“It will help Americans see real gay, lesbian and transgender headed families,” said Jennifer Chrisler, executive director of Family Pride, one of the groups spearheading the event.

This is the first year Family Pride has organized gay families to participate in the event.

Chrisler said some “fringe groups” have attacked them. “The right always gets very concerned when LGBT parents show up with their children,” she said. “The more we are the same, the less potent the arguments are for discriminating against us.”

to disinvite them, sorry to say.

But I think it's very important that they try. Because the RR narrowmindedness is based very much on thinking that "I don't know anyone like this; ergo it must be wrong."

The more they see GLBT people are just normal, everyday people, the less argument the RR have to make that they are "different."

18. While I respect the idea

I have questions about exposing children of gay families to any reactions or demonstrations they might be confronted with. It depends on the kids' ages of course. But as much as I'd want my children to understand what they're up against I'd rather explain the situation clearly and calmly at home, than allow them to be abused or insulted in public.
