KPOJ says Wyden will be voting no on Alito
I didn't hear the interview itself, but I just heard a KPOJ news announcer report that Ron Wyden had said, on Thom Hartmann's show, that he'll be voting no on Alito.

2. Wow, when he did grow a spine?
As an Oregonian, I have not been all that impressed with Wyden.

4. He's not that bad
He only has a hard time with logging and tech mainly.

I'm sure he has a vocabulary beyond the word "spine" too.

14. He had a little problem with medicare, too
and help the Republicans pass that- even though he was a one time leader of the Grey Panthers.

I voted for him last time out. Very reluctantly. After CAFTA, I'm inclined to withold my vote if he runs again.

15. A little problem w/Medicare?
That's being very kind. He voted against his constintuents when he voted for the November 2003 bill. I stayed up that night (morning actually) until 3 am and was livid.

I sent him a email asking for an explanation. I did not receive a reply.

If he does vote no on Alito, he will redeem himself, in a small way.

8. Uh, okay. I'm not sure which Wyden you've been watching, but

somehow I don't think it's the one we've got in the Senate. As an Oregonian, I continue to be shocked at Wyden's fortitude and his courage. The CAFTA stuff was truly unfortunate, but not really something he could have stopped, and while I think his yes vote for Roberts was WTF, (and likely just an attempt to respectfully adhere to Reid's strategy) I'm willing to give him a pass there as a once-in-a-lifetime screw up. Seriously, it doesn't get much better than Wyden.

3. Well good
Glad he's made his vote clear, it was unbelievable to me that he would vote for Alito. Now we'll have to push for the filibuster.

5. Wonderful. I'll be calling his office to thank him.
I left a message the other day that if he supported Alito, I would not support him with my vote. I'm sure that was the call that finally made up his mind. ;)

7. Dare I say it
It seems the announcements are being made one at a time according to an orchestrated plan.
Each time the commentary escalates with Leahy for example citing this as the "last check remaining in our government".

It is supposed to building in momentum which we might not recognize being the top of the steam cloud ourselves- and which will not be allowed unspun access to open national forums or media.

Why on earth there can't be linkage more dramatically with Bush's lawless dictatorial crimes i don't know. This notion of a higher game going under the scornful indifference of the WH to take Alito seriously is plain stupid. Our Senators have dignity. Our soldiers are brave with couintless heartrending dramas extending into the long suffering people. How dull it would be if they simply handled Bush and not the tragedies he dishes out for the suckers?

9. I heard the interview
Wyden was a bit mealy-mouthed, but he said he wasn't going to rule out the filibuster, so I'm not going to bash him. As soon as the interview was over, I called his office in DC to say thanks, particularly for not ruling out the filibuster. The phone-answering guy seemed elated—a far different sound from all my previous calls begging Wyden to oppose Alito. Maybe the little guys in the office feel the way we do?

13. I'm surprised that you got any response out of "the little guys" at all.
Whenever I call Wyden's office, I get to deal with staff members who are as well, impersonal as he is. Not that this is bad, it's not their job to be our friends, and it's not like they're rude, but...you know how they say a support staff should be a reflection of its employer? That's definitely true of Wyden's people.

16. Better Than Smith's, anyway
I held my nose and called ol' Gordon's office. Phone-answering guy there said that Smith hadn't committed one way or another, but that he was leaning towards approving Alito. I said that I was disappointed to hear that, and that I hoped he would express to Senator Smith my dissatisfaction with such a course of action. He wasn't out and out rude, but you could hear the sneer in his voice when he said that he would.

Oh well. I tried.

12. The tide is turning! Keep those faxes and e-mails and phone calls
rolling in. They are being swamped. We can win this!

CALL ALL YOUR SENATORS LOCAL DISTRICT OFFICES NOW TO OPPOSE ALITO

We have gotten many emails from our participants, asking "what more can we do?" Some have reported senators arbitrarily turning off their answering machines at night, or long waits on hold. Are they trying to hide from the thousands and thousands of their constituents who are raising their voices to demand that they filibuster the evasive Alito? Even if you have already sent your personal message by email or made some phone calls, we have added a FABULOUS extra function to the main action page where you can instantly lookup all your senators local district offices phone and fax numbers with just one click.

http://www.nocrony.com

SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT FILIBUSTER FRIDAY

If the other side can have a so-called "Justice Sunday", we can have our own "Filibuster Friday", and that day is tomorrow. In just the last 24 hours we have seen a major shift in momentum. Today, Senator Leahy came out with a very strong statement that he recognizes the immense threat to our freedom and democracy in allowing a dangerous and unpopular president to install a fifth and controlling vote to hold that our Constitution actually intended to create an executive dictatorship. Tomorrow we need to show our support for those senators who are starting to stand up now by hitting every phone they've got right down to the district level with our phone calls and faxes. Get all your numbers with one easy click at

http://www.nocrony.com

Those you who like to call in to progressive radio programs, we have all their call in numbers too at the site above in the right column. Call them and ask them to talk up Filibuster Friday all day and night long! Let's start early and snowball the thing all day long. Ask them to give out the easy to say and remember URL above as much as possible. Senators have said they are "undecided" on a filibuster. But we the American people HAVE decided and all our senators have to do it get it.

Some senators who are too still too cowardly to demand a filibuster are saying they will make Alito an issue in the 2006 election. It'll be an issue alright, in their OWN primaries! Any officeholder who will not stand up for this one must never hold public office in any capacity ever again. And the difference is whether you will stand up YOURSELF right now and make those calls to their local district offices. Make calls to the toll-free numbers 888-355-3588, 888-818-6641 and 800-426-8073 if you can get through there too.

It is not enough to vote "No." They must vote "Hell, NO!" It's called a filibuster. Filibuster Friday.

Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed to be ours, and forward this message to everyone else you know.

If you would like to get alerts like these, you can do so at http://www.usalone.com/in.htm

Or if you want to cease receiving our messages, just use the function at http://www.usalone.com/out.htm

17. I don't have a problem with a right of center but otherwise competent
guy being on the sc; but this "unitary executive" shit is unacceptable, its not in the constitution, its actually anticonstititutional in its spirit, and is enough in my mind for a filibuster.
