Rawstory: Rove camp 'frustrated' by uncertainty
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Rove_camp_frustrated_by_uncertainty_in_0120.html

Awwww.... poor guy.

ROVE RETURNS to spotlight with RNC speech," the Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire blares Friday.

<snip>

RAW STORY has learned that Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald -- who is investigating the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame -- has met with his new grand jury at least once since the year began. The special prosecutor remains U.S. Attorney for Northern Illinois, and is juggling other cases as he deals with Rove.

"I think it's fair to say that there is no change in status," Rove's attorney Robert Luskin told Jason Leopold for Truthout last week. "He is not a target of the investigation, but there remains an open investigation."

Adds Harwood: "The Judge in Libby's CIA-leak case sets Feb. 3 status hearing and asks both sides for joint filing by Friday on discovery process. Fitzgerald hasn't been seen much in Washington lately, and Rove camp remains frustrated by uncertainty over his status. Libby joins Hudson Institute as senior adviser on Asia and antiterror war."

Basically, about as long as the ride Steve Martin got hitchhiking in The Jerk.

4. Someone ought to send him a gift basket of mini-muffins to cheer him up.
He's such a great guy, and he's been so kind and gracious to others. It hardly seems like he deserves to be squirming on the hook like this.

5. uncertainty is a fact of life. Rove needs to read Werner Heisenberg
Edited on Fri Jan-20-06 11:48 AM by dave29
whose uncertainty principle proves to me that Rove's uncertainty is a direct result of him being certainly unprincipled.

7. Provisions of the Patriot Act also expire on 2/3, IAEA meets on 2/2
to discuss referring Iran to the UN Security Council for sanctions.

A lot of things coming together here at the same time.

Best case: Senate lets domestic spying provisions of Patriot Act lapse, IAEA votes to continue talks with Iran, tensions deescalated, Rove and others are indicted.

Worst case: Iran war hysteria leads Senate to permanent reauthorization of domstic spying provisions of Patriot Act, Rove investigation gets buried.

Keeping fingers locked together.

13. Maybe KKKarl's uncertainty is the reason for the bin Laden tape
Maybe he released the tape because he is feeling the heat from Fitzgerald and this is an attempt to divert the attention away from him.
Is Fitz about to spring and indictment?

17. He didn't look a bit uncertain this morning
Rove just spoke at the RNC Winter Meeting (Live on C-SPAN2)
He spewed the same lies, talked about national security, the economy and the courts.

(e.g. "President Bush has a remarkable record, he is winning the war against terrorism." )

Coincidentally, Gonzales is now giving a speech. Funny how they're doing this while Conyers is looking into domestic spying and impeachment on CSPAN1.

41. Well,
I guess my points, via slight thread drift, were:
1. He looked confident as he happily told lies.
2. It was a "coincidence" that Rove and Gonzales both had live airtime while Conyers et al were in the basement trying to get the facts about unlawful spying at an unauthorized and unofficial hearing.

It was fascinating and of historical importance. I don't know when it's being shown again. It's well worth seeing. (2+ hours) Check CSPAN
schedules. :)

35. Right now, KKKarl is serving the exact same role for the * Admin...
...as the Iraqi Minister of Information served for Saddam during the invasion. Remember?

"The American troops are suiciding at the walls of Baghdad! Yes, really, they are!! They ARE, I swear!!! This is OFFICIAL, you know!"

And he's about as believable.

waspishly,
Bright

37. Is Rove audaciously trying to pressure Fitzgerald?
It would seem that Rove wants to be allowed to work on some "jucy" - read corrupt item that the White House is working on but can't until Fitz issues him a clean bill of political health. Fitz has mega time and Red Rover is warming the short bench and now whining because his homeostasis is out of whack. The more ambiguity and fear Rove has to live with the better. Separately, may JACK AbramOFF also bring a political category 5 hurricane Rove's way and he has to reatin the consulting services of 'Brownie' to help him.

No worries, Rove, you left your finger prints all over the crime scene, you're corrupt and Elliot Ness P. Fitzgerald ain't gonna let the bad guys get away!
