Ney Promises To Seek Re-Election
Ney Promises To Seek Re-Election
by UPI Wire
Jan 20, 2006

WASHINGTON, Jan. 20, 2006 (UPI) -- U.S. Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, has vowed to seek re-election even if he is indicted in the federal lobbying probe on Capitol Hill.

Saying he was elected by the constituents of Ohio's 18th District and not by state party officials, Nye told The Hill newspaper that he planned to run for a seventh term.

Ney said he has received so many calls of support "I literally can't return" them all, since Ohio Republican Chairman Bob Bennett told Fox News should Ney be indicted he would be asked to step down.

Ney has been identified as "Representative No. 1" in documents related to the investigation into the actions of lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who has pleaded guilty to fraud, conspiracy and other charges. The representative has been accused of accepting gifts and travel in exchange for legislative favors, The Hill said. The investigation is continuing.

4. Run away Ney
This cretin makes me ashamed that my hometown is in the 18th District in Ohio (still have relatives back there who are appalled by this neanderthal). This area used to be solid blue-collar union Dems. How the times have changed. This was also the seat of Wayne L. Hays, if anyone remembers him and his "I can't type" mistress Elizabeth Ray on the payroll. Hey Ney, remember what happened to old Wayne L. and his crimes don't even APPROACH the level of what you've done.

5. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaha
Felons can't run for anything. You're going to jail Mr.Ney unless you can explain why a congressman from Ohio was making disparaging comments about a casino in Florida while receiving bribes from the hatman.

7. I thought the same thing! I figured he'd be bunking with
Jim Traficant! I know Jim said he was going to run from his prison cell, but I guess it didn't work! The two Ohioans could bunk together and talk about old times!

8. Yeah, and in their arrogance and hubris,
they'd probably also plan their respective political comebacks. Definitely not part of the reality-based community

You should hear the way they frame these stories in our local media.

"Ney temporarily steps down until his name is cleared".

What a crock

Convicted former congressman painting in prison
Associated Press

CLEVELAND - Former U.S. Rep. James Traficant, expelled from Congress in 2002 after his bribery and racketeering conviction, is now dabbling in watercolors and acrylic rather than politics.

The Ohio Democrat, who served nine terms in the House of Representatives, is serving eight years in federal prison after being convicted on a 2001 indictment. He's passing the time by painting.

Traficant is currently selling 12 paintings, which feature pastoral scenes and horses, for $140 to $205 on the Web site http://www.beammeupart.com. The site's name comes from Traficant's practice of ending his often flamboyant congressional speeches by saying "Beam me up!"

21. I think in psychological terms it's called "Denial." Anger, shock...
denial.

I DON'T think any public office for Ney is "in his future' (as they say in the crystal ball business).
