Pentagon Says a Covert Force Hunts Hussein & Bin Laden
By THOM SHANKER and ERIC SCHMITT
Published: November 7, 2003

WASHINGTON, Nov. 6 — The top American military commander for the Middle East has created a covert commando force to hunt Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden and key terrorists throughout the region, according to Pentagon and military officials.

The new Special Operations organization is designed to act with greater speed on intelligence tips about "high-value targets" and not be contained within the borders where American conventional forces are operating in Iraq and Afghanistan.]

..and why wasn't this done months ago?

Just imagine a secret organization, with no rules, little oversight, and a penchant for MURDER

Kind of like the Phoenix Project at MACV-SOG (ca: 1968)

17. Now, do we really believe that the "enemy" hasn't thought about this?
Anyone ever hear of counter-counter intelligence?

4. Covert could have saved us from invading....
either country...and hell there were so many CIA
agents training the Taliban in Afghanistan...they
practically had their cell phone numbers.

Do we have any intelligence in this country?

16. Oh, you are so right!
That was my exact first thought. Bush wouldn't send coverts into Afghanistan because he didn't think they would be effective. He pulled back all of Clinton's coverts before 9-11 that were trying to take out Bin Laden before he succeeded in his wildest dreams. Now he's back to following Clinton's lead.

I've said this a thousand times, but every single thing that Bush and the Republicans did to fight terrorism after 9-11 was first proposed by Clinton and Gore before 9-11, and rejected by the Republicans and Bush. There's no greater confession that Bush could give that he screwed up.

8. A perfect cover-up
If you wanted to keep these guys safe, what better way to do it than by using a special force, that to the sheeple looks like an attack force, but in reality is an umbrella?

All info and contacts would have to go through that special force and any and all communications concerning the whereabouts would be tightly controlled.

Man, these guys are good.

A Sheeple Slogan:
They'll catch these guys one day, you just wait and see! So stop saying that.

Why do they feel it necessary to tell us things that probably shouldn't be publicized, like announcing a covert force (?!?) or a CIA NOC agent's identity, yet they won't tell us things that they SHOULD tell us, like how they intend on extricating this country from Big Muddy, or who was at Cheney's energy committee meetings?

10. Does the following make anyone else a bit worried?
PNAC?

"Military officers say a broader, regional mission was given to the new force, which has become one of the Pentagon's most highly classified and closely watched operations.

Much about the force, which is commanded by an Air Force brigadier general, remains classified, and Pentagon officials declined to discuss the rules under which the new force operates throughout the region or whether its would require the permission of a foreign government to operate in its territory.

Military officers say that focusing the intelligence, and the Special Operations firepower, within one organization, called Task Force 121, streamlines the effort to use information on these targets and mount an attack.

12. Who's in charge?
I think that's the difference. It's a secret organization but who tells them where to go? Rove? Or is this the additional unit that Rumsfeld alluded to in his leaked memo?

Either way it's whacked. If we can send a covert force into another sovereign nation in order to sow chaos ... we have become al Quaida.

19. Which, of course is what we should have done before we murdered
10s of thousands of innocent Afghans and Iraqis. But I'm sure their reason for hunting them is to silence them. They know where most of the Bush Crime Family's bodies are buried I'll wager.

"Brody's got friends in every village from here to the Sudan. He speaks a dozen languages, knows every local custom. He'll blend in, disappear, you'll never see him again. With any luck, he's got the grail already."

Task Force 21 (fumbling with map): Does anybody here speak English???
