Al-Qaida No.2 at Site of Airstrike in 2005

By RIAZ KHAN, Associated Press Writer 26 minutes ago

PESHAWAR, Pakistan - A captured al-Qaida leader told interrogators that he and the terror group's second in command met last year at the same home hit by a U.S. missile strike last week, Pakistani intelligence officials said Saturday.

Ayman al-Zawahri, the al-Qaida No. 2, was the apparent target of the Jan. 13 attack but apparently was not at the home when it and two other residences in the town near the Afghan border were destroyed by U.S. missiles.

Pakistani authorities nonetheless suspect al-Qaida operatives had gathered for dinner that night at the home in Damadola to plan attacks early this year in Afghanistan and Pakistan, an intelligence official said.

Al-Zaqahri and other al-Qaida officials had met there at least once before, in early 2005, according to Pakistani officials, who said they learned the details from interrogations of Abu Farraj al-Libbi, once al-Qaida's No. 3 leader.

The stupid * idiots really fucked up. They are really trying hard to link these bombings to some al-Qaeda scent.

I won't believe it unless they show proof of an al-Qaeda application for employment with the address of the blown-out Pakistani addresses.

Wait a minute, you mean Pakistani authorities allegedly knew about the alleged al-Qaeda house? Does that mean they gave * permission to invade their sovereign country and bomb the shit out of it?

1. Ah yes, that Al-Libbi, the one who turned out to be the coffee boy.
And the US and Pakistan are still peddling him as the former #3. Have they no shame?

Captured Al-Qaeda kingpin is case of ‘mistaken identity’

The Sunday Times May 08, 2005

THE capture of a supposed Al-Qaeda kingpin by Pakistani agents last week was hailed by President George W Bush as “a critical victory in the war on terror”. According to European intelligence experts, however, Abu Faraj al-Libbi was not the terrorists’ third in command, as claimed, but a middle-ranker derided by one source as “among the flotsam and jetsam” of the organisation.

Al-Libbi’s arrest in Pakistan, announced last Wednesday, was described in the United States as “a major breakthrough” in the hunt for Osama Bin Laden.

Bush called him a “top general” and “a major facilitator and chief planner for the Al- Qaeda network”. Condoleezza Rice, secretary of state, said he was “a very important figure”. Yet the backslapping in Washington and Islamabad has astonished European terrorism experts, who point out that the Libyan was neither on the FBI’s most wanted list, nor on that of the State Department “rewards for justice” programme.

...A former close associate of Bin Laden now living in London laughed: “What I remember of him is he used to make the coffee and do the photocopying.”

3. It's pure BS, but AP - Propaganda Central - puts it out without comment.
They know almost no one will check it, certainly not the thousands of newspapers they will supply with this story.

8. This reminds me of the Nuremburg Trials
The allies wanted the first major trial to represent someone from each part of the German government so they chose the top 18 people to showcase for the first sensational trials.

In the group were Goering and Hess and Keitel, and Doenitz and von Papen, and Funk, and Frank, etc.

But supposedly Goering had a problem with one of the defendants. Wo the bleep is Hans Fritzsche he asked? I never saw him or heard of him he said.

It seems the Allies wanted someone from every major department and Goebbels and the other major leaders of the Popaganda Ministry were dead so they got down to lucky or unlucky Hans Fritzsche who the other defendants thought didn't deserve to be in their major trial.

Of the 18 defendants, he was one of the three who were acquitted. Don't know if he eer wrote a book later. It might have been an interesting read. I know at least two of the defendants, Speer and Doenitz wrote books and they were both very interesting and important books.

Anyway, this al-Libby guy, if he was the copy boy for the group could actually be a very important catch. He would be very aware of the schedules and locations, but he might not be so indoctrinated and disciplined as the others so he might provide more info then a major guy. It's guys like him that the big guys talk in front of and don't pay attention to him being there.
