Jean Schmidt Hires Iraq War Veteran
1/21/2006

Congresswoman Jean Schmidt has hired an Iraq war veteran to join her staff.

Schmidt sparked controversy in late 2005 when on the House floor she said "cowards cut and run, Marines never do" in reference to the U.S. presence in Iraq.

Staff Sergeant Paul Brondhaver has been hired to do community outreach for Schmidt on issues related to the military.

Brondhaver received the Purple Heart after being wounded in Iraq.

I hope Jean has enough sense to get rid of all those purple heart band-aids left over from the Repug convention.

1. Perhaps we should send her a few purple heart band aids.
Just as a little joke, of course. ;)

8. That district is close to Cincy;
Where they still shoot blacks because they are! I'm in Columbus, where the paper not once endorsed John Glenn.

5. Is he still active? reserve? "Vet" doesn't mean out always - as
my husband is a vet twice over.

And if he is still in - even NG or Reserve - he can't LEGALLY be involved in politics in his uniform or claim he represents the military in ANY way.

Just saying

12. You only get a Purple Heart
if you've been in combat, so he must have been on the ground in Iraq or Afghanistan.

6. The controversy wasn't that she simply . . . .
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 06:20 PM by patrice
"said "cowards cut and run, Marines never do" in reference to the U.S. presence in Iraq." but that she did it in addressing Senator Murtha, thus implying that Murtha is a coward - AND - she tried to ascribe the comment to someone else for whom she was simply passing the message along; that attribution turned out to be a lie. All of this happened when Schmidt took her turn during the discussion of a completely adulterated Repbulican version of Murtha's resolution, which they had introduced for the sole purpose of voting against it.

19. Savior Quest?
Edited on Sun Jan-22-06 07:11 AM by DoYouEverWonder
Oh that figures. Sure he grabbed his bible in the middle of battle after he got all shot up with shrapnel, while he was holding a gun and shotting the enemy.

The rest of that site is a hoot too. They seem a little obsessed with sex and homosexuality.
