Pakistan PM: CIA attack reports 'bizarre'
Edited on Sun Jan-22-06 06:24 PM by leftchick
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/01/22/pakistan.attack/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday ridiculed as "bizarre" a U.S. report that senior al Qaeda leaders were killed in a CIA attack on a home along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

"There is no evidence, as of half an hour ago, that there were any other people there," Aziz said on CNN's "Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer."

"The area does see movement of people from across the border. But we have not found one body or one shred of evidence that these people were there."

U.S. counterterrorism officials have said they believe the January 13 attack killed four to eight al Qaeda-affiliated "foreigners" attending a dinner meeting. Knowledgeable sources have said that their bodies were removed from the scene by comrades and buried elsewhere. (Full story)

Tens of thousands of Pakistanis have taken to the streets in cities nationwide to express outrage about the attack, which killed more than a dozen civilians, including women and children.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said no evidence indicates al Qaeda leaders were killed in a CIA airstrike.

...It isn't bizarre it is USA Propaganda....

8. Not that I don't think Bushco would lie about this or anything else but
the Pakistani government is just as likely to lie as our own leaders. To be fair, we'll probably never know who actually died in the attack.

14. they have camera drones, just like missile drones
why wouldn't they have filmed the mysterious body removers? they just fired missiles, slapped a bunch of high fives and then miller time?

seems that there are "after action reports" of everything else, but a missle attack in a uninvolved sovereign county gets nothing in the way of follow up?

17. Pakistan PM disputes U.S. claims over airstrike
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 08:31 PM by lovuian
Pakistan has strongly refuted U.S. claims that an airstrike in the country last week killed a number of al-Qaeda leaders.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Sunday the air-raid was carried out by the United States, not by Pakistan, and that his country was not even aware it was taking place, despite the fact it was on Pakistan soil, and despite an agreement between the two countries binding them to collabarate on military action beyond the Afghan border.

Aziz ridiculed claims by the U.S. military that between four and 8 al-Qaeda operatives were killed in the attack. "We have not found one body or one shred of evidence that these people were there," he told Wolf Blitzer on CNN's Late Edition

18. What would you call a nation that went into another country, killed
13 citizens of that country, without that country's knowledge or permission?

Now me, I'd call that state TERRORISM.

Funny thing, international & US law call it that, too.

21. I'm not so sure the Pakistani gov't was totally out of the loop as they
claim and that they haven't cooperated or at least turned a blind eye to US incursions in the past. They've been bought and paid for and they play both sides. It's to their benefit to be "shocked, shocked" before their own populace, given that the relationship with Bushco has never been popular at home.

24. I gotta disagree wit'cha there. Mushie knows he will be dead as a
doornail...seriously dead...if it ever became public knowledge he gave the ok for the US to bomb Pakistan.

The vast majority (like 98% last polls) of Pakistanis hate our frigging guts. There's already been 3 assassination attempts on Mushie. He's not stupid; I don't believe he'd take such a risk.

But hey who knows.

25. He's walking a tightrope. But the US bombed last year and I don't
recall Pakistan complaining about it as they are now. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10303175/

But I also don't recall the populace was out in protest about it at the time. They are now and as a result the Pakistani government is "outraged" unlike last year. Which is why I think they're now more likely pandering to their populace.
