Pat Robertson cancels speech to National Religious Broadcasters
Pat Robertson cancels speech to National Religious Broadcasters

(Manassas, Virginia-AP) January 22, 2006 - The Reverend Pat Robertson has canceled his scheduled speech at next month's National Religious Broadcasters convention in Dallas.

Robertson made the decision after meeting with NRB leaders. Robertson was to have spoken at the closing banquet, but NRB leaders worried that the furor over his remarks linking Ariel Sharon's stroke to Israel's withdrawal from Gaza could detract from the convention's focus.

Ministry leader Henry Blackaby is scheduled to speak in his place.

Robertson, who has apologized to Sharon's family, told NRB leaders that he regrets the negative impact his remarks have had on other religious broadcasters, and is taking steps to avoid such controversies in the future.

1. I'm sure it was "voluntary" on his part.
Sounds like a good cover for "We asked the crazy fucker not to come because who the hell knows what kind of idiocy he might spew at our get together?"

2. why do they hate christians hahaha seriously, robertson is very
mainstream with his thinking shared by millions of people.

they should let him speak instead of denying him his rights.

denying rights is the republicans' job

5. I especially like...
how Robertson apologized to Sharon's family after (I think the *day* after, but I could be wrong) Israel said they would not allow him to construct the Christian equivalent of Disneyland over there.

12. In related news: Pat Robertson says God will punish the NRB!
"All I'm saying," responded the angry Robertson, "Is that I wouldn't want to be in that room. That room belongs to God, and they have asked God to leave that room. In a city known for lone gunemen, I'd be more concerned about angering God if I were them. God knows where they live, and where their families live. God knows people who can get that kind of thing done."

16. ROFL!
Honestly, they use this monkey-think so much, it's hard to know how to spin the bs. If these morons really believe any of their own BS, they should be worried that Pat will tell God they threw him out... and God will take revenge.

Rapture Watch! Maybe it will be right before the speech starts!

13. He makes inappropriate remarks about the butcher of thousands of arabs,
then he gets kicked out. Should have stuck to leftists Pat... say anything you want about leftists, or towns that vote for education... or attacking gays, or any other such nonsense, but you can't say anything about our favorite leader. Say anything else and he'd still be welcome at the NRB.
