Audience Q&A New Feature of Bush Speeches

By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press WriterMon Jan 23, 4:20 AM ET

Move over, Oprah. President Bush is making himself into television's newest talk show host by making audience participation a feature of his appearances.

Bush has been taking questions from audience members in recent speeches, and the White House says none has been prescreened. It's a throwback to the folksy style on the campaign trail that helped him win re-election and a departure from the heavily scripted speeches that were the norm last year.

And his answers have resulted in some revelations — both personal and political.

The White House has grown so comfortable with the format that most of his appearance Monday at Kansas State University was reserved for Q-and-A with the audience......

1. Of course the questions aren't prescreened...
because the audience already has been.

I will love it when an "infiltrator" gets in and asks a real question that puts this idiot over the op!

2. Let's see him try it with an audience that isn't prescreened
and approved.

4. Yeah right, like that's going to happen.
You and I both know that even if they did, he would be more wired then anyone could imagine. Hell they would even figure out a way of putting in a 7 second delay between the question and the answer so someone can feed him the lie.

6. "Just 'screened', we figure that's enough"
Isn't "prescreened" redundant?

9. The simplicity of that response is breathtaking.
Sort of a "less is more" approach.

Thanks.

13. You can bet there'll be a small child in the crowd
who'll ask a big question. Like the one at the last event who asked, "What can we, as Americans, do to help support our soldiers in Iraq?" or something of that nature.

16. Why is this article written in the past tense, like it already happened?
The White House has grown so comfortable with the format that most of his appearance Monday at Kansas State University scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET was reserved for Q-and-A with the audience.

And unlike the more intimate settings where the president has taken questions before, this appearance was set in front of a coliseum full of several thousands, including students, soldiers from nearby Fort Riley and invited guests.

:wtf:
