NAIROBI, Kenya (CNN) -- Rescuers are desperately trying to dig out construction workers trapped under the rubble of a five-story collapsed building in Nairobi, Kenya, that killed at least two people and injured 60 others.

It was unclear how many people were trapped, but The Associated Press said on Monday that 285 workers were inside the partly constructed building in the center of the capital in the east Africa nation.

Kenyatta National Hospital reported at least two people were killed but police have yet to give an official death toll. Witnesses told news agencies on Monday they had seen up to eight bodies.

Spokesman Simon Ithai said the hospital had received 60 patients and was expecting more.
