MANHATTAN, Kan., Jan 23 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Monday that he has told China it should not sell its goods at unfairly cheap prices in U.S. markets, and that it should float its currency.

"Treat us the way we treat you," Bush said he had told Chinese officials. "You've got a trade imbalance with the United States and if we don't get it under control there could be a backlash here."

Bush added that he had said: "And by the way, if you happen to dump, choose to dump products like textiles, we will hold you to account under our law."

"You've got to let your currency float. The currency should be priced to the market, not by government edict," Bush said he had told China.

Anyway, regarding the dumping of cheap Chinese goods here, are there comparable America products? We don't make much anymore. When you are in a store, pick up item after item to see where it is made. Almost nothing is made in America.

Want a cashmere scarf? Go to an expensive store, look at an expensive scarf, look at the label: Made in China. I'll continue wearing the wrong color scarf until I can find one made in America. Result: I'll be mismatched for eternity.
