Disney, Pixar agree to $7.4 billion deal
http://www.marketwatch.com/news/yhoo/story.asp?source=blq/yhoo&siteid=yhoo&dist=yhoo&guid=%7BBFE3756C%2DD00B%2D4C97%2DBEEC%2DC6E24D7B1B47%7D

Walt Disney Co. on Tuesday agreed to acquire Steve Jobs' Pixar for $6.3 billion in stock plus $1.1 billion of the computer animation specialist's cash, the companies said after the market closed. But the deal also gives Pixar and Jobs unprecedented access into what is perhaps the world's most renowned entertainment brand.

Jobs, who also is chief executive of Apple Computer Inc., will take a seat on Disney's board. He also becomes the company's largest individual shareholder. Further, several Pixar executives will oversee Disney's animation unit along with their own operations.

We will now have a dedicated liberal virtually in charge of one the the largest media conglomerates in the world. Some people may be thinking Disney is taking over Pixar, the opposite is true, Pixar is taking over Disney. Read up on the history of Apple Computers and Steve Job's return in 1997 if you don't believe.

This is Disney aquiring PIxar outright, but in fact it is about Pixar taking them over.

3. No, it was more like...
Jobs/Pixar said, "I'm not working with that asshole Eisner anymore!" Corporate struggle ensued, Eisner's contributions were measured against Jobs/Pixar's. Eisner came up short. Now he's gone.

Now Jobs/Pixar is in.

7. I don't get it either. If every successful small business is going to be
swallowed by the big giant corps then my what a wonderful world of diversity we have to look forward to.
Does is all end with one giant world corporation that owns the planet and the planet will be sponsored by them so
instead of Earth it will be called Planet Taco Bell or whatever?

9. "Dedicated liberal?" is there a test? How did he score?
Funny how a billion fucking dollars, a board seat, a gargantuan ego, and running the Disney/ABC empire will not change this humble guy.

Look for Stossel the moron to continue, and other inane absurdities like not reporting the real news to continue unabated.

He sounds like he was the last of the red hot baby boomers to sell out. BIG.

Same Disney time, same Disney station.

10. Jobs will turn Disney blue. Remember,
Disney will have the services of John Lasseter, the creative genius of Pixar. He could breathe some life into the animation department of Disney. He will also be designing for the Disney theme parks. Lasseter is to Pixar as Johnatan Ives is to Apple.

Many of us are interested in this because we have been watching Steve Jobs' strategy since he rejoined Apple. It was really interesting to watch how he was changing both the computer market, and then the content delivery market. We knew sooner or later Jobs would end up at Disney, we just wasn't sure if Apple would have been part of the deal. Apple might have enough cash on hand to buy Disney. The last I checked, they had $40 billion. That was a couple years ago.

Remember who Jobs put on Apple's Board of Directors: Gore.

Is GM innovative? Is creativity the hallmark of Ford? Maybe they need Steve Jobs, a good Democrat. At least their cars wouldn't be butt ugly.
