Middletown Holds Court-Ordered Special Election 25 Jan 2006
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Middletown voters chose eight Democrats and four Republicans for the Common Council Tuesday night in a special election ordered by the state Supreme Court.
The high court voided the Nov. 8 council election last month because of a defective voting machine.
David Bauer, who filed the lawsuit that resulted in the election being voided, won a seat on the council Tuesday. He beat Republican V. James Russo, who had defeated Bauer in November. Officials said Bauer lost as many as 100 votes because of the faulty machine in the first election.
The Democrats elected to the council are Thomas J. Serra, Gerald E. Daley, Elizabeth K. Nocera, Phrances L. Szewczyk, Vincent J. Loffredo, Robert P. Santangelo, John L. Robinson, and Ronald P. Klattenberg. Voters also chose Republicans Joseph E. Bibisi, Francis T. Patnaude, Earle Roberts Jr., and Bauer.
