Venezuelan Military Officers Detained
AP) Venezuelan Military Officers Detained
Jan 25 2006

CARACAS, Venezuela

Vice president Jose Vicente Rangel said Wednesday that some Venezuelan military officers have been detained after they allegedly passed information to U.S. officials.

"Some low-ranking officers were passing information to the Pentagon," he said.

Rangel did not elaborate on his reference to the Pentagon or provide details on the number of officers detained or the type of information involved.

Rangel, a close adviser to President Hugo Chavez, said authorities suspect the officers had contacts within the U.S. Embassy in Caracas and that some had since left Venezuela.

4. Re-making the army should be a top Chavez priority.
A good idea would be establishing a general political department in each military branch to make sure that no anti-Venezuelan political conspiracies are hatched. Secondly, the people's militia should be further armed and strengthened. Several contingencies should be in place in case of US aggression or fascist coup.

6. Venezuela officers 'spied for US' (BBC)
Vice-President Jose Vicente Rangel said some "low-ranking officers" had passed information to the Pentagon.

Some of the individuals concerned had been detained and some had left the country, he said.

Ties between the US and Venezuela were already under strain. Washington is deeply opposed to the government of left-wing President Hugo Chavez.

Mr Chavez accuses the US of supporting attempts to overthrow him, which the US denies.

7. Ever notice how easy it is for the U.S. govt to be deeply opposed
to another nations elected officials?? All you gotta do is nationalize your oil, sell cheap oil to the poor, buy armaments from China and Russia and you get the brass ring. But remember, we hate them for their freedom to do such things.

to rape and pillage a country of its natural resources, etc., the US hates them. And it's not just the Shrub Administration that has had this policy - they're just more blatant the previous administrations.

Edit: Typo
