4. Frankly, I am so disappointed with the entire process....
and lack of backbone of the Democrats. I told myself and my close friends that if Elito is confirmed as Supreme Court Justice...Democrats can forget my vote to eternity...that is, that I will never, ever, never, ever, never vote for Democrat again..period.

5. So...
All but one Democratic senator will vote against Alito, but somehow they don't have "backbone". Makes sense - not.

Talk about fairweather friends...:eyes:

8. well, no filibuster = no backbone, unfortunately.
unless 41 of those 44 no votes support a filibuster, than alito's confirmation is assured. thusly, a simple no vote without a filibuster is an empty gesture, so is most definitely sign of no backbone.

9. Where's the public support for a filibuster?
Where's the massive public show of opposition to Alito? How can anyone blame the Democrats for not filibustering under such apathetic circumstances?

7. They would if
the public would show more interest. But there's hardly any public support for a fillibuster, beyond a few groups.

10. This fella (Alito) is the first nominee who has gotten the same
opposition across the board that Judge Bork did at his confirmation...so why aren't the Democrats not filibustering? You have to wonder!

13. If Democrats want to let judge Alito go to the supreme court
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 10:44 PM by AlamoDemoc
and use it as 2006 as they plan to do with as the same as (NSA eaves dropping; Ubu Ghraib; Guantanamo; lack of WMD; WMD Memo; Torture; Human rights violations; Al Jaziira memo; Iran war drum beat) to mention a few, they dead wrong...they have no reason allowing this nominee to the court...they have enough ammunition to kill this nomination, considering all that is going on...

on edit: Have you called your Senator yet?

16. Thing about FILIBUSTER is: it would give Dems a forum to make case v. Bush
Kind of like, Impeachment Lite
