Cheney, Rumsfeld Could Testify in EU Probe (cannot subpoena)
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/eu_cia_secret_prisons

BRUSSELS, Belgium - A European Parliament investigation into alleged CIA secret prisons could ask Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to testify, although it has no legal power to subpoena them, a member of the panel said Thursday.

"Very senior people" would be asked to answer the allegations of human rights violations on EU territory, said Sarah Ludford, vice president of an investigation into the alleged prisons being conducted by the parliament.

"I don't see why we should not invite Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney," Ludford said. "I'm sure they would be very welcome and they would be heard with great interest, or (Secretary of State) Condoleezza Rice perhaps, why not?"

"I hope that we will be inviting very senior people from governments, from non-governmental organizations and people who have knowledge of the intelligence community," Ludford said. "If they are seen not to cooperate then I think we can draw conclusions."

1. I will say this about Cheney. He's never answered the call, never
will. He is no George Galloway.

5. ROFLMAO - Neither one of them will answer to our own Congress!!
What makes Parliament think they will answer questions of them! When hell freezes over is when Cheney and Rumsfeld will go to Parliament.

Cheney may testify in CIA prisons probe
- By AP

Brussels, Jan. 26: A European Parliament investigation into alleged CIA secret prisons could call top US officials, including vice-president Dick Cheney and defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld, to testify, an official said on Thursday.

"Very senior people" would be asked to answer the allegations of human rights violations on EU territory, said Sarah Ludford, vice-president of an investigation into the alleged prisons being conducted by the European Parliament.

"I don’t see why we should not invite Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney," Ms Ludford said. "I’m sure they would be very welcome and they would be heard with great interest, or (US secretary of state) Condoleezza Rice perhaps, why not?"

But Ms Ludford, a British Liberal Democrat party member, acknowledged that the Parliament had no legal power to subpoena them.

"I would not be overoptimistic but I don’t think it’s completely off the planet to think that they might come to see us," she said.

(Italics mine)

Ms. Ludford apparently doesn't know Cheney like we know Cheney. Ah, Cheney, the man of a thousand deferments.
