Republican ad accuses Sen. Reid of holding up Patriot Act
By KATHLEEN HENNESSEY
ASSOCIATED PRESS

LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Republican National Committee says it plans to launch an advertising blitz accusing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., of holding up reauthorization of the Patriot Act.

A television ad set to run this weekend credits the act with disrupting terrorists attacks, breaking up terrorist cells and leading to criminal charges in "terrorism-related" investigations. The ad will run on national cable channels and most major networks in Las Vegas, an RNC spokesman told The Associated Press.

The controversial act, which has been criticized by Democrats and Republicans, is set to expire Feb. 3. It will one of the first items on lawmakers' agendas when the Senate opens its 2006 legislative session next week.

"When law enforcement and intelligence agencies cannot communicate our security is threatened. The Patriot Act connects the dots," the RNC ad reads.

2. Spin.
Shouldn't it be called: The very end and annihilation of the Constitution of the United States of America Act, already? Oh, and the Bill of Rights is merely flotsam and jetsam in the wake of that final bomb going off.

You can worry about what you want to and divert your energies. You can dilute yourself in the protocols of denial, as provided. We have a certain, clear, Constitutional crisis on our hands right now and who is taking note?

Can the President/Executive Branch do whatever he/they want to, or can't they? Is there law for them, or not? We the People have been called to order, action, and decision. That is all she wrote.

3. Reid should be proud of this...
He should run an add on domestic spying and ask if that is really what America needs

7. Perhaps I'm missing something.
Most provisions of the unPATRIOTic act are already permanent. When it was enacted in the frenzy of 2001, some cooler heads put sunsets in the more controversial provisions.

This fight is about those controversial sections that impinge / trash our civil liberties.

about the fact that 90% (!) of the Patriot Act is law. The Bush Administration keeps putting pressure on Legislators to make ALL provisions (the other 10%) permanent. That little factoid sort of shocked me.
They just don't know when to stop, do they?? Give 'em hell, Harry.

13. Why won't the Democratic Party come out with advertisements
on how corrupt the bush administration is and how they'd dragging us all in the hole with silly advertisements that are smoke screens to cover up the many charges against the administration that is leading us into third world standards?

Expose all the lies!

14. The Republican agenda is failing.
Hamas is resurgent in Palestine.
The Taliban are resurgent in Afghanistan.

These things are the opposite of what this administration claims its goals are. Freedom and democracy are not spreading, they are being destroyed.

Domestically:
Real income is down.
Poverty is up.
More are without health care.
Our borders are no barrier to anyone.
US deficit is an impending WMD in itself.

What have we given up, and what have we gained? We borrow endless sums from our children in the name of "security", and we give up our privacy and freedom too, and what have we gotten in return? A crappy economy and more and more enemies.

How is that every time some administration hack mentions the word "terrorist" everybody falls into line and supports them? There is only one measure by which this administration can claim success against "terrorism", and it is a very narrow claim: That we haven't been attacked again, on US soil, by Al Qaida, since 9/11/01. Of course, as long as we keep sending targets to them, why should they waste resources trying to come here? Therefore, it is imperative for this administration to keep sending targets to other parts of the world.

16. The Republican Agenda Is Succeeding
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 12:01 PM by loindelrio
1) Queue propaganda 'Helping the Terraists'
2) 'Terraists' strike
3) Queue more propaganda 'Helped the Terraists'
4) Gain seats in November

Terra Terra Terra Terra Fear Fear Fear Fear Traitor Traitor Traitor

On Edit: And I fully agree with everything in post 14, except that it is apparent that their agenda is to maintain power, at any cost, so they can continue looting the country.
