Sea level rise 'is accelerating'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4651876.stm
Global sea levels could rise by about 30cm during this century if current trends continue, a study warns.
Australian researchers found that sea levels rose by 19.5cm between 1870 and 2004, with accelerated rates in the final 50 years of that period.

The research, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, used data from tide gauges around the world.

The findings fit within predictions made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC

cubit

Heb. 'ammah; i.e., "mother of the arm," the fore-arm, is a word derived from the
Latin cubitus, the lower arm. It is difficult to determine the exact length of
this measure, from the uncertainty whether it included the entire length from
the elbow to the tip of the longest finger, or only from the elbow to the root
of the hand at the wrist. The probability is that the longer was the original
cubit. The common computation as to the length of the cubit makes it 20.24
inches for the ordinary cubit, and 21.888 inches for the sacred one. This is
the same as the Egyptian measurements. A rod or staff the measure of a cubit is
called in Judg. 3:16 _gomed_, which literally means a "cut," something "cut
off." The LXX. and Vulgate render it "span."

7. Head for the high ground...
water's knee-high 'n risin', as we used to say during flood season. Only now, it's coastal areas around the globe at risk. Inhabitable land area will be reduced and millions of acres of fertile, arable land will disappear while the population continues to rise. Armageddon revisited.

18. It's OK. The population won't continue to rise for long.

As the sea level rises, at the same time there will be climate change, causing massive tracts of arable land to become desert, leaving less for agriculture. It is speculated that this will mean starvation on a massive scale, meaning population will decline. Sure am glad I only have another thirty or forty years, max. It won't be pretty.

But not clueless George! He is busy spying on people to get his info and doesn't need to turn to the media to learn anything.

17. Well, they may not be able to fix it, but surely they'll get a huge,
no-bid contract to try. Well, sort of try. You know how imprecise their billing can be.

WE are merely one of the mistakes.

15. 30cm
is about 11 inches. I wouldn't plan on that ark just yet.

I'm not saying we shouldn't be concerned but less than a foot in 100 years? IF we address the issues this could easily be reversed.

16. 2.54cm = 1 inch, so 11 inches is about right
Thus 30cm = 30/2.54 = 11.81 inches
