GAZA, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Senior Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Saturday rejected international calls for the Islamic militant group to disarm and renounce violence to prevent cuts to international aid for the Palestinian Authority...

He added that Hamas, sworn to Israel's destruction, was committed to keeping its arms and resisting Israeli occupation.

2. Democracy on the March!!!
I guess this isn't what scrubbie had in mind.
It's amazing though. A legally elected public official(s) and we choose to not recognize the government. I guess when scrub decided to spread Democracy, he didn't mean a real Democracy.

3. Until this legally elected government
renounces their intention to wipe Israel off the map, we're right not to work with them. When they're ready to behave in the world and concentrate on the dire needs of their people instead of terrorism, we ought to be there in a second.

Democracy goes deeper than one election.

I hope Hamas will soon tone down the rhetoric and settle into the business of creating a viable state. So long as they are obsessively focused on hate, that's not going to happen.

Sheik Ahmed Yassin, the founder and spiritual leader of the militant Hamas movement, was killed along with his bodyguards early Monday in a strike by Israeli helicopters in Gaza City.

The Palestinian sheik was being pushed in his wheelchair from dawn prayers at a mosque in the Sabra neighborhood when three missiles struck, killing him and three bodyguards and wounding 13 other people, including one of his sons, witnesses said.

Stunned worshipers emerged from the mosque to survey the scene. One man wept as he held up a wheel of Yassin's smashed wheelchair. Another held up a piece of the sheik's bloodstained robe. Bits of flesh and blood covered the area.

Yassin, 69, a paraplegic, was the most senior Palestinian leader to be killed by the Israelis in more than three years of conflict.

4. Just wait until the Iraqi gov't announces they will pick up the
slack in any aid withheld by the west. I'm sure Iran will be glad to assist also.
