Minister: 'High risk' of dirty bomb
January 28, 2006

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/01/28/germany.dirtybomb.reut/

BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) -- It is probably only a matter of time before Europe falls victim to a terror attack with a "dirty bomb" combining conventional explosives and radioactive material, according to Germany's interior minister.

In an interview with a newspaper released ahead of time on Saturday, Wolfgang Schaeuble said the spread of "dirty" material and weapons of mass destruction rendered the threat of attacks by international terrorists "extremely serious."

"The question is probably no longer whether there'll be an attack with a dirty bomb, the question is when and where it's going to happen," he told Germany's Welt am Sonntag paper, citing reports from intelligence services.

He added that the victory of Hamas in the Palestinian election earlier this week and the stand-off between western powers and Iran over Tehran's nuclear ambitions posed new security risks which could have far-reaching consequences.

Edited on Sat Jan-28-06 10:59 AM by xchrom
is this guy taking a page from rove?

what is needed -- as always -- is good police work with intensive on the ground covert operatives.

something we used to have before the over reliance on iffy electronic surveillance.

you cannot catch these bad guys from a distance -- you have to infiltrate and build bridges with these shadow organizations.

but then again -- i'm a member of the crew that thinks these groups are allowed to proliferate to keep the rest of the world upset.

Just a thought putting 2 and 2 together?

3. Was this guy appointed when the Nazi Merkel took over?
Take a page from the Nazi Bush playbook--wage a continual war, keep people terrified, and you'll be in power forever.

5. A dirty bomb is a drop in the bucket
compared to the pollution these governments allow industry to spew on us everyday.

I'm much more concerned about another big accident at a nuke plant, then some guy in a cave with pipe dreams.

6. Only if we attack Iran first.
Then, "It's Springtime for Hitler and Germany . . ."

What in the Heil were the Germans thinking when they voted the Right-wing back into power? Is this what they want to happen?

Does al-Qaida have 20 suitcase nukes?
12:50 2002-10-02

http://english.pravda.ru/columnists/2002/10/02/37596.html

Author claims bin Laden purchased them in '98 from ex-KGB agents for $30 million

A new book by an FBI consultant on international terrorism says Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida terrorist network purchased 20 suitcase nuclear weapons from former KGB agents in 1998 for $30 million.

The book,"Al Qaeda: Brotherhood of Darkness," by Paul L. Williams, also says this deal was one of at least three in the last decade in which al-Qaida purchased small nuclear weapons or weapons-grade nuclear uranium.

Williams says bin Laden's search for nuclear weapons began in 1988 when he hired a team of five nuclear scientists from Turkmenistan. These were former employees at the atomic reactor in Iraq before it was destroyed by Israel, Williams says. The team's project was the development of a nuclear reactor that could be used "to transform a very small amount of material that could be placed in a package smaller than a backpack."

10. Former (DEA) agent Mike Levine suggests imminent, horrific disaster.
http://www.shout.net/~bigred/OsamRev.htm

In "Osama's Revenge Part 1," archived at Levine's "Expert Witness" web site (http://www.expertwitnessradio.org), Levine and his co-host interview author Dr. Paul L. Williams. In the broadcast, the failed War on Drugs is paired with the (according to George W. Bush) unwinnable War on Terror. Williams, author of Osama's Revenge, describing himself as a reluctant doomsday prophet, is greatly alarmed by black market proliferation of tactical nuclear weapons known as "suitcase nukes."

The scenario presented follows the break-up of the Soviet Union, unemployed KGB agents, tempting fortunes to be made by arms sales, and enormous amounts of cash available courtesy of heroin originating in Afghanistan.

Reportedly, in 1996, Osama bin Laden purchased 20 suitcase nukes and has these terrifying weapons at his disposal. The means of smuggling such doomsday weapons into the United States is facilitated by already-in-place drug smuggling routes.

The bin Laden heroin nexus is described as using a production enhancement yielding Number 4 heroin, highly refined and in demand. Smuggled into the U.S., these packets of smack are said to bear the logo "Binnie," short for bin Laden.

12. and it's only a matter of time before.. (fill in the disaster here)
I mean, those stories are so useless and salicious. Designed only to scare people. "it's only a matter of time before... " right out of Cheney's play book. Only a matter of time before... a volcano erupts, a movie star gets plastic surgery, a tsunami hits somewhere in the world, a bank is robbed, some jawalks. yawn.

13. I'm convinced
that if there's a dirty bomb or any other kind of terror attack, here or in Europe, the blame should be placed squarely on Bush and any of his butt-boys, i.e. Blair etc. They are the ONLY ones who are inflicting terror on the people of this planet.

The various "Osamas" may be the patsies or the contractors, but the plan will be developed by those (PNAC types) who think the citizenry need a booster in their "terror" quotient.

And BTW, the Cabal still hasn't been brought before a war crimes tribunal for their 911 MIHOP. :grr:
