US plans to 'fight the net' revealed (Pentagon psyops on Americans!)
A newly declassified document gives a fascinating glimpse into the US military's plans for "information operations" - from psychological operations, to attacks on hostile computer networks.

<snip>

Perhaps the most startling aspect of the roadmap is its acknowledgement that information put out as part of the military's psychological operations, or Psyops, is finding its way onto the computer and television screens of ordinary Americans.

"Information intended for foreign audiences, including public diplomacy and Psyops, is increasingly consumed by our domestic audience," it reads.

"Psyops messages will often be replayed by the news media for much larger audiences, including the American public," it goes on.

7. I don't know that it's so much paranoia
as the mistaken belief that anyone who disagrees is The Enemy. That's why people from the Pentagon infiltrate Quaker anti-war meetings.

Have I mentioned lately how much I despise those people?

8. I saw something about Cuba on the news last night
"It reveals that Psyops personnel "support" the American government's international broadcasting. It singles out TV Marti - a station which broadcasts to Cuba - as receiving such support."

I saw on a news progam last night that the US has electronic tickers in the embassy in Cuba and they are displaying "democracy" messages on that board for the population to read. they are using quotes from Jefferson and such on that board, mixed in with national news stories. Castro is so pissed, he is building a wall to prevent it from being seen at all.

I remember thinking, while watching that segment, that we really had gone over the propoganda falls with that move.

This just proves that I was understanding the story correctly, even though it's intended message was to build support for such actions. It made me sick to my stomach then, and even worse now.

12. Got caught watching Faux today
Edited on Sat Jan-28-06 03:25 PM by Bushwick Bill
because I was at the gym. I nearly had a stroke. They explained that the greatest threat to the U.S. is "communist" South America and their explanation was that these regimes are sympathetic to Al Qaeda. It was possibly the most laughable thing I have ever seen on Faux. I knew it was only a matter of time before Hugo and Co were somehow connected to terror. Why do the terrorists keep ending up where the oil is? You will know we are near the end game of this fascism when we label the Chinese terrorists in order to compete with them for resources. I think this report from last year was a preview.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-01-19-boston-terror_x.htm

Anyway, the minute they mess with the internet, it is over for us.

from the USAF Air War College-this is part of what Rumsfeld acknowledged Thursday.
He should know, his "Message to the People of Iraq" was a Commando Solo II (PsyOps) mission.

I see these things, and I am deeply, deeply thankful that I never got my commission. When I was in Army ROTC, I was being recruited by an officer from PsyOps. If that had worked out... I'd be up to my nose in that mess right now.

20. Caught part of NPR's Weekend Edition this morning
or was it Friday's Morning Edition? Either way they talked about internet information conduits about how a few large corporations try very hard to control more and more for their increased profits. They named MSN and AOL as two examples. Some of this comes from large ISPs, who can control their content for many thousands of people at a corporate whim. The power to shut our net down like China does is there. More than likley it will be a gradual shutdown of information, as a people will suddenly wake up and complain if they are suddenly cut off from multiple "non-approved" sites.

21. There's so little reason to believe they merely claim the disinformation
we read daily, and have been reading, was simply imported from their plants in foreign sources. That has probably become their pattern: always making sure an article is run somewhere outside the country first before getting it run here for its real target audience, the jerks paying their salaries.

Well, one can only spend so much time in shock & outrage, then something must be done to get past and around it, and not settle to be the victem here. There has to be a way to pry this insideous power out of their control, or at least neutralize it. The first step would be to get personally informed. People who actually know what the hell is happened are not vulnerable to propaganda. They recognize it quickly. If it seems they've taken over all the former trustworthy news sources, then something else must be created. If they finally control the "internets," something else MUST available.

24. What does the quote below from the BBC report do to your gut?
US forces should be able to "disrupt or destroy the full spectrum of globally emerging communications systems, sensors, and weapons systems dependent on the electromagnetic spectrum".

Consider that for a moment.

The US military seeks the capability to knock out every telephone, every networked computer, every radar system on the planet.

from a US journalism venue - other modes of suppression and blackouts are working well for the Bushies now. But the scope of what they long to do...

44. There go the airplanes, also.
Elaine Scarry wrote a couple brilliant articles (NY Review of Books) on electromagnetism and plane crashes off NYC (e.g., TWA 800; e.g., the plane crash over Queens a few days after 9/11). It seems that AF1 is fitted to be especially protected against EM disturbances (say, from mysterious Navy ships near-by), but the domestic fleet (of 747's et al.) is not.

This has been going on for a very many years. What can we do about it ? NOTHING !The only thing we can do is to set the military`s priorities by changing the Administration. I am a veteran myself and am aware of how omnipotent they are. Throughout history this has been so, ALWAYS.
