Nigeria foreign hostages 'freed'

Four foreign oil workers held hostage in Nigeria for nearly three weeks have been freed,
a local official has said.

A spokesman for the southern state of Bayelsa said the American, Briton, Bulgarian and
Honduran were alive and well and with the state governor.

British officials and representatives of oil company Royal Dutch Shell said they were checking
the report.

The four were seized in Nigeria's Delta region in an armed raid by militants demanding more
control over resources.
