22. Dammit, don't say that -- it disrespects all she fought for
Her memory and struggles for us -- ALL OF US -- deserve better than that. We all must grab the standard she just laid down, just like she picked up the one her husband dropped.

Remember her.

74. She has left quite a legacy in her own right,
Just think by picking up that banner she inspired countless generations. Like a pheonix her work will be carried on by those she met and inspired. I think it will be amazing to really see just how many lives she has touched for peace, equality and justice. Since 2000, I have often looked to the C.B.C. to see what issues Congress should be addressing. There lie the roots of democracy, still strong.

Her quiet leadership throughout the years will definately be remembered.

23. CNN LBN headline is... well, questionable:
Coretta Scott King, wife of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., has died, a PR company for the King family says.

Why phrase it that way? Couldn't they say "a family spokesman?" After Katrina, my racism detector's been on overdrive...:grr:

This morning they kept playing a clip of * giving Mrs. King a kiss and putting the wreath on the monument to MLK at the King center!

I know exactly what they were trying to do -- tie in GW with MLK, like he liked them.

What an insult to Coretta Scott King!

Who has that picture of GW with King's portrait? The one where he remarked that he was pleased to "hang him" or something to that effect!

GW is the exact opposite of everything that Coretta and MLK Jr. stood for...

May she rest in PEACE and glory, she was a drum major for Justice.

25. Lady Coretta

King is welcomed with a kiss by his wife, Coretta, after leaving court in Montgomery, Ala., on March 22, 1956. King was found guilty of conspiracy to boycott city buses in a campaign to desegregate the bus system, but a judge suspended his $500 fine pending appeal.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King during a news conference following the announcement that he had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

64. Yes, a shift in our Universe just happened....
A new era just dawned on America and how many people even noticed?

I started crying when I heard the news...because in my soul, in the deepest levels of the memory of my DNA, I know that there are dark days ahead for our country, our world and the shift has begun...

Sorry to sound like such a downer, but I'm serious when I say that....I literally believe that a shift is happening in the universe and there is much danger and chaos to come...Lady Corretta and her Martin, represented the best of what humans are capable...the piece of shit who will be spewing his lies tonite while our elected represents clap for him, represents the worst of what humans are capable of...

WRAPPED UP IN THE ASS'S VICTORY OVER ALITO, THEY MIGHT BE EVEN CELEBRATING THE WOMAN'S DEATH BECAUSE THEY ARE AN EVIL CROWD WHO CELEBRATE WHATEVER OR WHOMEVER CANNOT STAND IN THEIR WAY, OR AS A VOICE AGAINST THEIR POWER GRAB OR DICTATORSHIP. CORETTA KING, MIGHT HAVE JUST BEEN SUCH A SYMBOL. AND HOW SYMBOLIC THAT SUCH A SYMBOL OF CIVIL RIGHTS AND JUSTICE DIES ON THE DIE THAT BUSH CELEBRATES THE INSTALLATION OF AN ANTI-CIVIL RIGHTS, ANTI-JUSTICE, ANTI-FREEDOM FOR DEMOCRACY SUPREME COURT!

87. She fought the good fight with all her might.
She really didn't have to, but she had it in her from the time she was a child.
She had talent, courage and ambition. She could have used it for purely personal gain. But she chose a life of service instead.
She was an activist in a time when many were afraid to speak out against injustice.
She found in her husband a soulmate, a kindred spirit, sharing the same aspirations for themselves and their young family.
She was the devoted wife and nurturing mother.
She was at the battlefront with him through the civil rights struggle
She also found triumph in her husband's accomplishments, including the Nobel Prize
When tragedy struck with her husband's assassination, she took it as a call to continue the fight he started for civil rights. And recognition for the work her husband had done.
She never backed down.
She fought the good fight with all her might.
Her fight is over, and now grant she enjoys eternal peace.
Coretta Scott King 1927-2006.
