US expects closer ties with Canada: ambassador
US expects closer ties with Canada: ambassador

OTTAWA, Jan. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- The United States is looking forward to having a "very close relationship" with Canada following Stephen Harper's election win, U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Wilkins said Tuesday.

The U.S. was anticipating "making a strong relationship even stronger." ""Our relationship is the envy of the world," Wilkins said on Canadian Television's program Canada AM.

Wilkins' comments came after his remark on the Northwest Passage in the Arctic region was rebuffed by Stephen Harper.

A week ago Wilkins told reporters that Americans did not recognize Canada's claim to the Northwest Passage. But Canada's prime minister-designate replied Thursday by saying he would not take orders on sovereignty from the U.S. ambassador, and that he will stick with his plan to station armed icebreakers, remote-controlled aerial drones and troops in the Arctic.

3. I would have if
I could have afforded it. And besides, Harper has a minority government that has little chance of lasting four years.

Is an Ass-Clown

A strong supporter of President George W. Bush, Wilkins served as state chairman of the Bush-Cheney ’04 campaign and as co-chair of the South Carolina Bush for President campaign in 2000. He was appointed by the President to the Board of Visitors to the United States Academy at West Point in 2002.

7. Harper's reign won't last long
His party is in the minority and he has to forge a government with two groups who are not going to support his platform.

Look for elections to be called again in around 18 months.
