Bomb-sniffing dog gets good seat at union address

By Laurie Kellman, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON — First lady Laura Bush's guests at her husband's annual address to Congress certainly were diverse. One, in fact, wasn't even human.

Rex, a 5-year-old German shepherd, fit in with the other Iraq war veterans who were guests of Republicans and Democrats.

Rex sniffed out bombs in Iraq. He's been the subject of congressional legislation. He's famous, and Wednesday night he became one of Mrs. Bush's guests at the State of the Union speech.

How Rex landed such a coveted seat — actually a spot in the aisle labeled "Rex" on the official seating chart — is quite a tale.

3. You should change or move this
Late Breaking News titles have to be the same as the story. It keeps this particular forum working like a newsfeed.

Otherwise, it's a good story.

9. This is more the CHIMPANZEE'S STYLE

He really achieves AROUSAL when he sees a Black Man bitten by a german shepherd

That's why they didn't invite Colon to the High Mass.

He was doing chores at the White House and they were afraid the dog might revert to his normal pastime

16. Took the words out of my mouth
You can have a dog that doesn't give one wit or another about GWB's speach, he prolly wouldn't be too friendly to the man because animals sense these things... yet Cindy was arrested for taking off her shirt and a republican supposedly was just asked to leave and cursed at the officers... free speach for the elite only.

14. You can see it in the dog's face:
"Dear God.... is he EVER going to shut up?!?"

"I smell something in here? Did I just take a massive dump? Oh yeah, it's him, nevermind."

24. This dog has seen war and what it has done to his master and her comrades
Unlike the Traitor-in-Chief. This dog apparently didn't have a powerful daddy to help him run away and hide.

Don't blame the poor dog, he is more noble and braver than George and the 2-idiot chickenhawks sitting behind him.

21. Can't WAIT to hear Keith tonight. He'll have a field day.
Barney and Miss Beazley must be so pissed off. "Geez, mom and dad, we NEVER get a good seat at the SOTU. All you let us do is that stupid Christmas video that is BEYOND embarrassing."

Hey ... if we want the Bush Twins to join Prince Harry in Iraq, shouldn't we want Barney & Miss Beazley to do their part as bomb-sniffing Scotty dogs?
