Colo. Group to Push for Gay-Marriage Ban

The Associated Press
Wednesday, February 1, 2006; 4:41 PM

DENVER -- A coalition of religious and family groups kicked off a drive Wednesday to amend the state constitution to ban gay marriage.

Coloradans for Marriage submitted a proposed amendment that defines marriage between a man and a woman to the state Legislative Council office, the first step toward getting it on the ballot this fall. The group will need the secretary of state to approve the wording and 68,000 valid signatures of registered voters to get the measure on the ballot.

The group's president, Bishop Phillip H. Porter Jr., said the proposed amendment is about preserving marriage and protecting children, not about hating gay people.

An opposing group, Coloradans for Fairness and Equality, argues the proposal does not strengthen or protect marriage and enshrines "discrimination into the language of the constitution."

2. for those who are interested, the phone number is listed below:
303-360-9728

I called earlier, and spoke with this moran's daughter-in-law, who informed me that I had no knowledge of scripture (asked her to which of several hundred versions she referred) and that I would have to answer to god for daring to call and excoriate this loving man, when I dared to suggest that perhaps there was no god, for surely a deity would get just a wee bit upset over having its message of love and caring so abused.

3. The bible is not the constitution (yet)
Don't waste your time arguing scripture with these wingnuts. Equality under the law is the point to make.

5. Alito just gave birth by proxy through Salazar to another monster.
Alito has given them a head of steam, and elections are around the corner. Time to dust off and parade the old boogeymen again.

7. We should argue scripture
Maybe "argue" is the wrong word. However, we do have to force them to address not only thier bad theology, but their flaming hypcrisy.

Biblically, they are wrong. If we deny homosexuals the rigth to mayy based on Old Testament and Pauline scripture, then we also must outlaw divorce and banish people who have sex during a woman's period among other things.

Also, force them to quote Jesus to support thrir bigotry. They won't, because they can't. They are full of poo-poo.

10. They are doing the exact same thing in Minnesota
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 10:40 PM by CatholicEdHead
All Catholic Dioceses in the state are forcing this on all parishes for a postcard drive the second weekend in Feb. They are trying to pressure the DFL controlled state senate which held this up last year.

I find this disgusting.

11. I didnt realize...
How devasting it would be to a standard marriage if 2 gay people got married...My Bad. If I would have known how focused they were going to be on WHAT GAY PEOPLE were doing I would have stopped supporting Gay Marriage a long time ago. The world is not going to catch fire if gay people are allowed to marry...BUt would that be a bonus for Xtians?? They are they only religious group thats focused on Armaggedon...You would think they would be doing what they can to speed up their rapture. If the end is coming, For them, why do they give 2 fucking shits what someone else does?? BIGOTRY.

Whats the reason for the ban again?? Oh yeah, Gay people are Sub-Human and Xtians are better then everything. The have no grounds to even bring up a BAN on anyones RIGHTS, Equal RIGHTS!! Gay People will have to the right to marry, you can bet your ass on that. I should goto the court house and ask for a marriage license, I know they will tell me NO. Then I should go get a Lawyer and file a Discrimenation Lawsuit against the City and even the state.....What if a few hundred thousand people did that all in the same week.

I dont see any other religion supporting this ban, just Xtian hate groups. Do you ever see any Gay people trying to outlaw any religion?? NO.
