U.S. can’t afford tax cuts any longer, Voinovich says

Sorry, but I think link requires subscription.

Like Rats from a sinking ship. At this point, I personnaly don't give a rats ass what any of the "so-called" moderate Republicans do to try to distance themselves from this corrupt, inept, criminal mis-administration. Too "effing" little...Too "effing" late George IMHO.

That's why it is key...KEY I tell you that every Repuke enabler, Snowe, Chaffee, Spectre, Collins, Voinovich, DeWine, Hagle, et al...every last one of them needs to be defeated, because when push comes to shove, they follow the party line.

From the Article:

WASHINGTON — Extending tax cuts that President Bush wants to make permanent would place an immoral burden on future generations of Americans, a defiant Sen. George V. Voinovich of Ohio warned yesterday.

"It’s time to put the tax-cut medicine back on the shelf," he said, pointing out that the federal government is spending billions to stabilize Iraq, protect the country against terrorism and rebuild the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast.

"We’ve got to make some tough choices around here," Voinovich said, adding that it would be "immoral to bequeath trillions of dollars in debt to our children and grandchildren."

(snip)

"After supporting Bush’s tax cuts in the president’s first term, Voinovich in the past year expressed deep misgivings about the growing federal deficit. Critics suggested Voinovich’s shift occurred after the 2004 elections when Republicans increased their Senate majority to 55 and no longer needed Voinovich’s vote to pass future tax cuts."

(snip)

So I guess what George is saying in the above paragraph is that "I voted for the Bush Tax-cuts, before I voted against them".

The American people need to clean house, and they need to start doing it this November!!

3. George V may say this NOW, but....will he stand by it?
He talks a better game than he votes.

5. I wish I knew what happened to my beloved Buckeye state.
I left 22 years ago to join the Navy. It seemed like a pretty sane place at the time.

My two brothers blame the mega-churches and the complete ineptness of the Ohio Dems. Apparently, the DEMS got complacent, and the next thing you know, Ohio had become Georgia.

We simply have to take back Ohio. It is "the Heart of it all".

Born and raised there and left 21 years ago. I'm in a blue state now and like it. What happened to Ohio?

10. I'm Not in a Blue State Yet
but we just elected back to back Dem Governors for the first time in a long time.

I think pretty soon, you're going to be able to color VA purple. Might take a while to turn it completely blue...these pricks are like a cancer. They spread everywhere.

12. I grew up near Mansfield in the 1960's. It was a great place.
About 20 years ago I went back to visit and found my aging, formerly non-churchgoing father, had been sucked into a mega-church. I accompanied him to services (ever the curious atheist)and it was like an expedition to another universe. I saw everything but snakes and I've got a feeling they were there somewhere. They were healing, they were speaking in tongues. It was nuts. Crazier than when that river burned up near Cleveland.

13. It's Amazing
Virginia recently passed a law outlawing the handling of snakes in churches. Virginia moves forward, Ohio moves backwards. It may piss off the people in Goergia, but if the Dems want to win Ohio, all they need to do is point out that Ohio is becoming Georgia.

Getting back to Voinovich. Is this a good indication that making *'s taxcut for the wealthy permanent is toast? Or are there enough Dem turncoats for him to still push it through?

4. I thought Voinovich was gonna take a stand before,....
,...when he found out about PNAC. But, he backed off FAST. I doubt he'll stick with this position, either. He can't handle the pressure by the RW and the neoconsters.

6. and that is precisely why
we need to put the fear of God into them. Snowe, Collins, Chaffee, Spectre, Voinovich, and the rest need to know that they are going to pay a political price for marching in lock-stop, or goose-step with the neo-cons.

Too many times, I've read posts on DU about how "nice" or how "moderate" Senators like Collins or Snowe are, but when the shit hits the fan, they follow their marching orders. They suck at the teet of corporate campaign donations just like the rest of the Pukes. They need to go.

11. Ohio has fallen hard, and is about as corrupt as it can be
Off-topic, but does anyone know Blackwell's chances.

The decline and fall of Ohio started when Limpballs and all the other wing-nuts took over every stinking 24/7 radio station there was. Even my two "life-long, born in a Union home, died in the wool Democrats" began voting "wing-nut" after being satuarated with Limpballs hate. Especially my one brother that drove a truck all day.

Finally, in 2004 they came around and saw the light. We're getting close to winning back Ohio, but I won't rest until Voinovich, Dewine and Taft are buried under the garbage of corruption they've created.

Ohio is the heart of it all.

Speaking of Voinovich, I'm "surprised" that I didn't see the massive "flip-flop" he just did on taxes get media saturation treatment.

You know if this were a Democrat, they'd be getting the "missing, young, beautiful blonde" treatment!
