Iraqi violence threatens civilian sector
http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/1103/09irviolence.html

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- For aid workers and private contractors, a threat assessment posted this past week by coalition officials at their fortified headquarters here painted a portrait of security in Iraq that was just as chilling as if they had been American soldiers.

"Anti-coalition attacks have become more coordinated, effective and lethal," the assessment read, "as foreign regime loyalists continue to adjust their tactics and techniques . . . because of the success they have had with improvised explosive devices and vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices" -- otherwise known as car bombs.

With ominous implications for the future of efforts by the U.S.-led coalition to stabilize and reconstruct Iraq, noncombatants delivering aid to Iraq's needy and trying to rebuild this battered country have veered into the cross hairs of anti-American insurgents.

At least four civilian contractors have been killed in bombings and ambushes in the past two weeks, as violence against U.S.-led coalition forces and those viewed as their collaborators has climbed to an average 35 attacks a day, according to the U.S. military.

2. If that was a multiple choice, Blame others for failure is going to
be the item of choice, followed by leaving declaring victory.

6. Didn't the LA Times dislike this term also? Everything except
"terrorists" is too mild a name for those terrorists because terrorists is the terror and we are fighting a war on terror (where is the country of "Terror" located, by the way?) and terrorists are everywhere and terrorists hate us and terrorists are evildoers and evildoers are terrorists and we have to stop terrorists and we won't leave because then the terrorists would win and terror is terror-ific and we are terrified of terror and terror surrounds us and anthrax, and cargo airplanes, and the democrats are for the terrorists and we are terrified that terror.......

8. The word has been so abused it has lost it's meaning
They toss the word terrorist around to be so inclusive (I believe my dog would be considered one now!)
They just needed something to take the place of Communist.
You're either with us or against us (i.e. terrorist).
