The Donald's Choice For Florida Governor Is..
Feb 3, 2006 9:38 pm

(CBS4/AP) WEST PALM BEACH Donald Trump was throwing a lavish party at his Mar-a-Lago mansion in Palm Beach, but it wasn't to celebrate the latest season of The Apprentice - he's now showing his support for a Florida gubernatorial candidate.

Trump, the mega-developer and star of TV's "The Apprentice," hosted a fundraiser at his opulent seaside Mar-a-Lago mansion Friday night for Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist. About 400 people attended the $500-a-person event, with some getting a photo op with Crist and Trump in exchange for $5,000 in contributions.

More than 1 million dollars was raised for Crist's campaign, Trump said.

"It's a great honor to have Charlie with us tonight," Trump said. "I mean, there's no doubt people love the guy."

So Trump is behind Chain Gang Charlie. I guess it could be worse, he could be supporting Fundie Freak Tom Gallagher.

9. Gallagher now faces ethics commission for owning insurance co. stocks
...while he was the State Insurance Commissioner.

IMHO, Crist and Gallagher will explode in flames attacking each other, while a Dem takes the Governor's Mansion easily.

TALLAHASSEE -- Expect the state's ethics commission to determine whether investments made by a gubernatorial candidate violated state laws barring conflicts of interest.

Republican Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher said he did nothing wrong after being questioned this week about his investments.

Those returns showed Gallagher owned stock in insurance companies while he was insurance commissioner in 2002. And in 2004, Gallagher voted to approve a gas pipeline in a deal that benefited AES Corp., in which he owned about $8,000 worth of stock.

snip

"I think `coming out of the rain' common sense would tell you that there's a problem with owning stock in a company you regulate and there's a problem voting on an issue that affects a company in which you own stock," said J.M. "Mac" Stipanovich, a Tallahassee lobbyist and Crist supporter. "I'm pretty sure that the law was broken here and how could you not think it was wrong?"

Gallagher's team said he violated no laws, and they blamed Crist's campaign for slinging mud on the issue. Pete Dunbar, a lobbyist who left a position in Gallagher's office last year, said Crist's campaign leaked the news and will likely find someone to file an ethics complaint to keep the matter in the news.

"This was a setup from day one, and the ethics complaint will be a setup," said Dunbar, a former member of the Florida Commission on Ethics.

12. God save us from Charlie Crist!!!!
I'll admit, that years ago, I voted for him for the head job in the Eduation Department, but that was because I knew some of his family members when I was a child and thought that he would be like them.

I have rued that mistake ever since.

He is the pits!
