Data for this report is collected via nightly telephone interviews and released on a three-day rolling average basis. Today is the first update in which that all interviews were conducted after the President's State-of-the-Union Address.

Today: 45% Approve 54% Disapprove
Feb 3: 46% Approve 53% Disapprove
Feb 2: 47% Approve 52% Disapprove

Is this a first? A president's approval rating going DOWN after a State of the Union address?

1. The rhetoric over the health care savings accounts is starting to
sink in among all those folks who are barely keeping body and soul together, are being gouged six ways from Sunday by insurance companies or haven't had insurance for years, and who realize that being required to buy insurance on top of putting money they don't have into a savings account for ordinary expenses is JUST PLAIN NUTS.

Plus, the boob had no plan to get us the hell out of his pet war.

Bush is a loser.
(Guess it'd be too much to hope for that they might also begin to wonder how a politician who's this unpopular could have won the Whitehouse without cheating)

9. no
I think we are already paying for his trips to speak around the country. He speaks everyday somewhere. He flies in at our expense and speaks to selected supporters. It is all spin and I am tired of paying for it. It may even be illegal.

15. its fairly unprecedented
I mean most of the bumps have been very temporary but there was at least SOME bump for SOME period of time.

This is a steady trendline down (and we know rasmussen is consistently higher than just about any other poll in calculating presidential approval)

In ever state where we want to win in 2006. He's gone from recruiting for the terrorist to being the best thing for Democratic candidates.

""Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all convictions, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity. ""

Rove was who Yeats had in mind there, btw.

26. ARG had him at 39% - Rasmussen always pulls high Puke numbers
I think (though can't remember precisely) that it's one of those things where they simply poll about 5% more Pukes than Democrats and then (surprise!) end up with poll results that lean right.

23. He said by 2025 we will cut dependence on foreign oil by 75%. The
very next day, the secretary of energy said Bush was not speaking "literally." BWAHAAHA!!!! Weapons of mass destruction..not speaking LITERALLY?..Osama..get him dead or alive..not speaking LITERALLY?Mission accomplished..not speaking LITERALLY?

His credibility is way past gone and we will need a speaking literally for dummies guide to know when he is embellishing or just downright lying.

The king is a delusional fool and many are finally seeing the light of truth!!

27. If bush is dropping to 45 and then 44 after the SOTU
in Rasmussen, he's in big trouble. I've got a theory (alway the optimist, I am): the silver lining to Alito's nomination temporarily reuniting conservatives after the off-year elections and Harriet Myers had started to drive them apart is that Republican Senators and Representatives have now spent the last month and a half tying themselves further to the president rather than breaking away. The biggest advantage we have in a nationalized election is this one of ties to Bush. And now is when the candidate recruitment is finishing off and the fundraising is in high gear. We're out recruiting them and out fundraising them (at least relative to normal cycles).

Republicans are fasting approaching the point of no return when it will be too late to distance themselves from a sunk president.
