Boehner Says Iraq Carries Risk for Republicans (Update1)

Feb. 5 (Bloomberg) -- New House Majority Leader John Boehner said Republicans risk losing seats in the November election if violence and instability in Iraq continue.

Boehner, elected to the No. 2 post in the House of Representatives on Feb. 2 after ethics scandals caused an upheaval in the Republican leadership, said lawmakers are concerned about polls showing the public is pessimistic about the situation in Iraq.

The Ohio Republican said he and most other Republicans still support President George W. Bush's Iraq strategy.

``The effort here is meaningful and worthwhile,'' Boehner said on NBC's ``Meet the Press'' program. ``Winning is more important that bringing our boys and girls home early.''

1. He Also Said, Iraq Greatest Gift To Our Grandchildren
Boehner: It may not benefit our generation, but for our kids and theirs, this maybe the greatest gift we give them.

5. A secure supply of cheap oil
is the greatest gift we can leave for future generations? Well, I don't think there's ever going to be a time when we will have that from the Middle East. And even if we did, what about the consequences of continuing to pour greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

No, future generations are just going to be saddled with monumental dept, millions of Muslims who hate us and want to kill us, and possibly a permanent occupation of the Middle East that will consume thousands of lives.

9. Can it be possible that, deep down inside,
they really believe this shit?

Picture his granddaughter sitting on his lap years from now. And he's telling her the wonderful story about how the US invaded and occupied a nation that did nothing to harm the US, that the US tossed 200 years of democracy down the drain, that thousands upon thousands American and foreign troops gave their lives for the establishment of a largely theocratic extremist Muslim regime. Is this something he can be proud of?

4. Repugs losing seats... we can hope.
Yeah, when you lie the country into a war we never should have started and lose the war (which is what the majority now believes) that can kinda hurt the ol' electoral prospects a bit.

But, they still love Jesus and hate gays. So who knows what's going to happen.

6. Aren't delusional people
most generally locked up? And wouldn't the greatest gift to our children be having their moms and dads raising them and not in a war zone killing other kids and their parents? Especially now when their is proof that * took us to war unnecessarily.

"Winning is more important than bringing our boys and girls home early" I'll bet that will resonate real well with the 99.9% of Americans who realize this is an unwinnable war. What a dufus!
