BAGHDAD: A US soldier died and another was wounded in a bomb attack in Baghdad late Saturday, a military spokeswoman said.

One soldier was killed and another was wounded in an improvised explosive attack in Baghdad's Waziriyah neighborhood, she said.

The death rose to 147 the number of US soldiers killed in combat in Iraq since May 1, when Washington declared major hostilities over. Anther six died when a helicopter came down Friday but investigations continue into the cause.
