1. Damn.
When is this going to end? We need to give up all financial interests in Iraq, and get the fsck out of there and PAY the international community to restore order and clean up our mess.

2. Your reuters link doesn't work, here it is....
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&ncid=578&e=2&u=/nm/20031109/ts_nm/iraq_explosions_dc

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Several loud explosions echoed across central Baghdad Sunday night, but there were no immediate details on what caused the blasts or if there were any casualties, witnesses said.

Guerrillas have in the past week targeted the headquarters of the U.S.-led administration in the Iraqi capital, on the West side of the Tigris River, with mortars.

Immediately after the latest blasts, one helicopter took off from the U.S. headquarters and others were also soon overhead.

(only a little more on this)

How to Win Friends and Influence People.

We lost the book. We lost our way.

Let's hope there are no innocents on either side.

How much does hope cost?

5. It's weird how we have to interpolate just what the hell is up with this
Like we're Soviet citizens, kept in the dark by the authorities.

I can only interpret the coyness about the these reports to mean that these explosions are happening in the Green Zone, accompanied by a not insignificant amount of damamge. If true, this means that the CPA is being shelled each night, with impunity. Reporting that would impair Bremer's "war is peace" spin. So, we hear vague stories of "explosions heard in the city" with no substantial detail.

Just imagine the news coverage if explosions were being "heard" in your city.

7. Sky News: House hit by mortar in Baghdad
From Murdoch's Sky News:

BLASTS HEARD IN BAGHDAD

A house in central Baghdad has been hit by a mortar after several loud explosions were heard in the Iraqi capital.

Police said the mortar was fired from a highway. There was minor damage and no injuries were reported.

It comes after a week of repeated shelling in the Iraqi capital, as guerrillas targeted the headquarters of the US-led administration with mortars.

In the worst of the attacks, three US soldiers were injured when insurgents shelled the coalition compound on Tuesday.

Earlier, the US military detained 35 people in connection with last month's rocket attack on Baghdad's Rashid hotel which killed a US colonel and wounded 17 others.

10. No Vietnam-It's Soviets in Afghanistan!
Bushbots keep saying Iraq is not Vietnam. They are right. It is worse than Vietnam. It is Soviet Union in Afghanistan. Helicopters getting shot down, military positions taking mortar fire, land mines, homemade bombs blowing up humvees. And all the while the administration hides from public view the dead and maimed - just like the Soviets did in their dirty little war. To find out what is going on reporters have to talk to soldiers and families of soldiers. This is the most dishonest war administration in U.S. history. What's more, Bush appears to be getting away with it. Nearly half of the American people still support how the administration is handling the war. That could change but it would be down to 25% by now if the media would do their job and tell what is really going on.
